Sorry, what? G&D consider themselves house music.

I think I have problems with tracks which you can just tell a track made before this was basicly the same.

I always want new/differnt sounding stuff (the debate that a track is good just because it is new/differnt is a whole debate on its own) which is posssibly construed as being elitist or trying to be underground (only the newest most differnt stuff).

Any trance which has lyrics with "love", "touch", "you", "me", "my" or "heart" in them sung by some random bird in a standard way coupled with standard beats and other standard components is going to have to be really well done before it desends into cheese in my opinion.

I think thats the problem I'm starting to have with the genre trance.

It has a format (perhaps more a problem with highly defined genres?).

I think trance is at its best when it includes an element which is genrally not a standard component of the trance genre.

Basicly inter-genre tracks, ones which are hard to define as just trance (or within trance sub-genres), which are well produced tend to be more likely to do something for me these days (with exceptions for exceptional tracks).

All this is just my humble opinion and I do love alot of trance and have done for atleast 10 years (i.e. I'm not trance bashing just trying to disect it a bit).

Doesn't matter, they're still pop.

Riight. So are you saying all music is the same genre: pop? Have you had any luck spotting the production differences between, say, a Ferry Corsten track and a DJ Sammy track yet? Based on the above I'd guess not.

I agree.

No they're not, "buddy". DJ Sammy produces euro pop with the emphasis on the vocal and radio friendliness. Producers like Ferry make epic trance, with the emphasis on the melodies, sub melodies and bass changes.

Of course, the very basic structure may appear the same. But you'd have to be aurally retarded to not tell the difference. Maybe you are.

Pop is not a genre. Pop music is simply popular music.

Oh, and what do we have here... a Ferry Corsten album, including One... Two... Three... Seven tracks featuring vocals.

Tiesto album, 5 vocal tracks:

Not like it matters. DJ Sammy and Tiesto/Ferry tracks both strive to give the listener that "uplifting" feeling that comes with epic trance, through vocals or pure instrumentals. That's how it is, whether you like it or not. Now, I suggest you shut up until you're more familiar with EDM.

Because, quite frankly, I'm getting sick of supplying arguments and having them ignored by clueless newbies. I'd rather just make fun of them.

You're wrong. "Pop" is indeed short for "popular" but it refers to the genre of music, mainly aimed at teenagers, with wide appeal but usually only for a short period of time.

Why do you start randomly talking about vocals? Just because Tiësto and Ferry make vocal tracks doesn't make them more like DJ Sammy.

I agree, but I'm talking about the way it's done. You have to either be deaf, stupid, or deliberatly obtuse to think there's hardly any difference between a DJ Sammy production and a Ferry/Tiësto production.

Incidentally, I'm not even a Ferry or Tiësto fan; in fact I like house and breaks, but I'm just making the point that there's little/no comparison between what they do and what DJ Sammy does.

Oh, so Tiesto - Traffic is infinitely better produced than Sammy's crap, huh? And so are Ferry Corsten - Punk, and Rock Your Body Rock, right?

You just stated that DJ Sammy's tracks are focused on the vocals, as are some of Ferry's and Tiesto's tracks. Don't go backing out now.
