Hmm, seems I didn't see this back when you posted it.
I don't go to the zone because I dread the day I walk out of there, on to Spadina, and am seen by coworkers or someone else outside of the scene whose opinion I respect. I live in the area and I see the people that come out of there, and while most of them are probably nice respectable people on other days of the week, the people I see filter out of there and towards the ATM on a Sunday afternoon scare the shit out of me.
I've warmed up to it a little I guess, but in all honestly the excess that prevails at the comfort zone is something that I, as a clubber, have grown out of.
On the other hand, I have little concern over being seen with gay people or leaving a gay bar. I've been involved with gay pride for several years now and will happily show my "PRIDE" to anyone. Not wanting to be associated with excessive drug use is entirely different than not wanting to be associated with gay people. 
It amazes me the disrespect shown towards GLBT members of tranceaddict. Did someone just call them "degenerates"? that's absolutely pathetic and disgusting.
