its because of you tossers that pop singers have no talent at all, all you're looking for is a crack whore. |
Personally I think that the easiest option to make serious money in pop is to be a Delta Goodrem, which is essentially to produce tacky tear jerker love ballads that will be embraced by the 12 - 18 year old girls that buy singles, and their mums who buy the albums.
If you want to be instantly successful which end of the spectrum between love softish tunes and risky out of the box music would you choose?
Look at the Australian Idol graduates, most of them take the easy route and produce softish music that aims for the highest heart pulling crap factor as possible. Making pussy music that pulls the heart strings is called the easy way out for song writing, as the most manufactured artists around will testify (such as the Australian idol dummies).
All bands and artists know that its the softer songs which sell the most, and any musician with a little integrity will ensure that only say 1 in 10 songs is some lovey dovey romance love ballad that ensures enough sales of their album to support the real music. I have little respect for artists like Delta who aim for the maximum emotional effect with every song they make.
Delta has a decent voice and amazing talent but until she starts producing music that is far away from her current balladic crap and starts to push some boundaries she won't have my respect.
