I don't think so. I grew up an hour outside of the city and I think it's just a part of the NY attitude. Yes there are more people there, but you don't hear much catcalling here at all. One of the few people I've noticed doing it here, is originally from the Bronx. I saw a lot of it in Miami too. Not as much in Vegas, LA, Chicago or any of the other cities I've visited in the US. Even less of it in Norway.

Yea sounds a lot like the Military. On the weekends you'll see that all the time around active duty posts. I live in NY and will agree there is a lot of cat calling. But the women..... it's so hard not to.
