Yes! I heard about the miniseries being produced and wanted to watch it! But now that you've said that i don't think i will. I hate it when people turn books into movies/series and leave out loads of details

I'll just keep thinking of it the way i see it when i read it then. No point in getting depressed over a shitty script!

Terry Goodkind?!?! ok, sure the first book was excellent, the next two are good but ripoffs of Wheel of Time...but the last 2 were horrible! 2 of the worst books I ever read. And the guy seems to think that Canadians are communists! The only reason I'm still continuing with his series is to find out what finally happens in the end.

Anyways, my recommend for fantasy is still GEORGE RR MARTIN

I highly recommend the Song of Ice and Fire series.
Too bad there's only 3 books out and he finally finished the 4th one after 5 long years. But trust me, once you start, you may lock yourself in your room until you finish them.

Also, Robin Hobb's books are also way up there. I'm currently rereading them now actually.

And for some mighty kickass fantasy, read Heroes Die by Matthew Woodring Stover. Then Blade of Tyshalle afterwards. A lot of gore and blood. And it's so badass!

Also recommend Guy Gavriel Kay - Tigana.

oh and how can I forget...The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Great Canadian fantasy author. I have some of his books... some pretty amazing character development.

I never found them to be rip-offs--but lets not get into a battle over that. Ive enjoyed the last two, bc i simply LOVE the characters Richard and Khalan and my favourite, Cara. I can never get enough of her and the other Mord-Sith, I trully wish Terry could find a way to encoroporate them more into the coming novels before it all ends.

I just started reading "The book of five rings" by Miyamoto Musashi. Musashi is one of the best sword-fighters ever, back from the 1600's I believe, in Japan. The book is all about sword fighting techniques, but it's written in a very philosophical way that pretty much leaves it open for being applied to anything. Interesting read.

ya, do it do it do it!

It's got so many jaw-dropping "I can't believe that just happened!" scenes!

Very memorable and almost realistic characters and very witty dialogue. If you loved Silk, you'll love Tyrion even more!

My last read was the Da Vinci Code and I found it enjoyable so I think I'm gonna pick up another one from Dan Brown

Great thread btw!

I only watched a portion of the movie in my class, and I found it interesting. It did relate directly to what the book was on. I would recommend reading the book first, and then if you like it watch the movie. I always find that works best.

And thanks! I'd been meaning to post this thread for awhile!

My parents bought me the box set of those books...all hard cover. I was too afraid to ruin them though, so I ended up getting the softcover ones from the library and reading them! Haha...classics!

OMG you're SO smart to preserve that...unused, I can only imagine what it might be worth one day...it'll eventually become a cult classic just like LOTR or Harry Potter IMO...

Well! Just read Confessions of a Shopaholic last night... Good book! Now i just need to get the next 3 in the series. The book didn't last long enough imo

Book i'm now reading: Stephen King's Four Past Midnight. Didn't even read the back cover - usually i always love all the Stephen King books - so i have no idea what it's about!

Ah, Becky Bloomwood! Probably one of the most annoying and loveable characters ever! The next two are pretty good, and in the fourth, "shopaholic and sister" you find her absolutely infuriating. I've never touched any of the anne rice or stephen king books myself yet!

This is a really great thread!

Who else is anticipating the next Harry Potter Book?

And is anyone interested in a monthly book club? I love discussing what I'm reading!

Oooh i'd definitely be up for a monthly book club !!! I never get to talk to anyone about the books i'm reading because nobody i know reads much here

**edit**

I completely agree with you on the Becky Bloomwood character... lol there were moments i'd just get so frustrated with the character! I think things worked out a little too easily for her though lol
