How would the US be attacked by Canada and the south and west if those countries would be devasted within the first minutes of a war with hundreds of nuclear weapons. Do US neighbors have nuclear arsenals? The US would eliminate every country without nukes in less then 30 minutes. Countries without nuclear weapons stand NO chance. To say countries would attack the US after they been nuked is ridiculous . Only countries with nukes would stand a fighting chance against the US, UK and France. The US, UK and France has the best tanks, fighter jets, commandos, Navy and Air Force. |
Thank you. While the idea of some raw numbers game is romantic, it's extremely naive and dense in an age of nuclear weapons. Hiroshima was a fcking firecracker compared to the array of Hydrogen bombs in current US and Russian stockpiles, which are hundreds if not thousands of times more destructive than the rudimentary atomic devices dropped over Japan in 1945. Number of warheads built by other countries in the nuclear club pale in comparison the former Cold War rivals. Click here to see a breakdown of global nucelar arsenals.
So the question of the thread rapidly diminishes to one of nuclear weapon use between Russia and the United States. One then realizes this is a pretty trivial question, because only a few hundred weapons from either side would be necessary to raze all the major urban centers on earth; both the United States and Russia have thousands each. People really don't realize how outdated and stupid the idea of global war has been since Hiroshima; anything of the sort would kill most life on the planet, with no "winner" in any conventional sense. Winner of what? A dead planet of scorched earth and radioactive fallout? Woohoo. Sign me up.

while it is true china + india = 1/3 of the worlds population and those are some overwhelming numbers if they were able to go on the offensive. However logistically speaking, you'll never be able to mobilize that many people, let alone arm and mobilize them effectively. |
Exactly. Also, it's hard to make any attempts at mobilization if your country is in nuclear ruins after one hour from declaration of total war.
A favorite quote of mine:
"I know not what weapons World War III will be fought with, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones."
Sorry to burst the bubble.
