How did you see all the way up in that booth Eleven50's dj booth is like a balcony

on topic:

Whoever said anything cdjs can do, can be done with vinyl.. you're incredibly wrong. Play with a cdj just for five minutes and you'll figure that out.

I can't wait for the big name djs to completely switch to software or cd, so 1) fresh, new forms of music will flow from the speakers, and 2)you "he sucks he isn't using vinyl" n00bs will finally shut up

let me jump in on this little flame

sasha said: "its about whats coming out of the fcking speakers" and I agree totally.

People thinking that playing with cds requires less skill are mistaken. I'd say it is quite the same. In the end the only 2 things you can trust are your ears and your ability to beatmatch & correct if neccesary.

another thought: Beatmatching is totally trivial anyway. People who still think that the only that a dj does is matching 2 or more source's tempo are wrong. As someone stated earlier: Djng is all about the heart & feeling. A good dj knows when and how to mix in the next track. A good dj is not afraid to be innovative. Beatmatching is just something technical that needs to be learned & then mastered. Take rally for example: Most of you have learned how to drive a car but can you drive like the world champions? It's all about talent and no technical advancement can never change the fact that you have to be good at what you do regardless of how you do it.

my 2 cents

(FYI: I still play vinyl + cds in about 3:1 ratio)

Ferry always spins CD's I'm almost positive. He did in NYC, and he did @ Trance Energy (can't get much more local for him so I don't wanna hear about having to lug records).

I just saw Scot Project this weekend and was VERY happy to see him spin almost entirely all vinyl, though he did drop a few CD's, but waaay more records.

I dunno, my opinion on the matter (if it even belongs here), if a big name DJ is playing CD's, who cares, chances are he can get his hands on any vinyl record he wants ya know, it's just easier to him to transport his CD's because he's probably spinning a few gigs a week.

Now when I'm at some local NY or NJ club, and DJ MyFriendWorksAtTheClubSoIGotThisGigButIStillSuck is spinnin and buncha shitty music that he fucking downloaded, I want to kick down the door of the DJ booth and stab him with a shard of a vinyl record (and if we're gonna break a record, we'll make it a hip hop one). Cuz that loser spent NO money on his music, nor did he put any effort into finding those tracks.

Finding the vinyl track you desire to buy isn't so difficult, any1 can google the name and order it.
Try finding it legal on a cd!!
And latest tracks trance tracks you can never find on p2p's.
After any1 knows the track, which is to late most of the time, it will have enough seeds.

its doesnt matter to me what the Dj uses ( Cd or Vinyl )ferry can use either. in my opinion what matters most and i give my respect out is finding the tunes we all like and love and bringing them to us.

They perform to us and we love it and im not gonna bitch about what format he/she used.

If you are just mixing, there's really no point to be picky about what you are using, vinyl, cd's, or software. The only dj's that really need vinyl are the dj's who depend on different placements of the vinyl, for example, turntablists.
