As far as Shivers is concerned and the review it got, I'm with swisstoni on this one, BBC is one of many and personally their expertise in EDM is as good as the shit they're playing nowadays, gush of crap.
Anyway if I understand correctly the album's background, Armin has a lot of remixes ready, and from there it can go in any direction, see he has something he can remix anyway he wants and it's his own either way you take it. I believe it's probably a business decision.
I like 2 songs very much Zocalo and Empty State, absolutely great.
Shivers is 50-50 with anyone you ask, either like it or you don't, and same goes for Serenity. Hymne is pretty good too, other vocal tracks like Gold Digger, Who Is Waching, Gypsy, Wall Of Sound are all that will probably see remix. And Control Freak and Bounce Back are really the old Armin sound. See it might not all be trance, but Armin has built himself a ground where he can play with the sounds, without being bothered wether someone will like it or not, because let's face it, even with all you guys spitting on it, there'll be a lot of people there that like the album, and when he's done remixing it, it'll slowly get into TA people too, so he'll catch 2 flies with 1 swing. You just got to see the big picture.
He does the music because he likes it, not you, and in my book that's staying true to yourself, which is exactly the opposite than what people have been accusing him, ie. playing music for the people etc. like some other DJs are doing. So he's doing just fine, and I think Shivers will too, and TA will still be where it is.

come on even you armin worshippers must admit that this album is very weak considering that the guy actually got real talents.

it's not how long you're in the game, but how you play it,
and I believe he's better than some wash outs

it'll come... and even if it doesn't it's not the end of the world, you can always tune in to something else if you don't like it.

What's so bored about being a Top DJ ?? Why do these guys get into producing when it's not what they are good at ??

What's the boring part about being a Top DJ again ?? The chicks ?? The money ?? The traveling ??? If you get tired then take a 4 month vacation far away from party places .. and that's it.

you're only as good of a producer as your last production...

I think generally, the top-end DJs are never as good at producing as those who concentrate more heavily on producing (makes sense).

Armin isn't a great producer, nor is Tiesto ('Just Be' wasn't exactly great), and come on, PvD has had the same sound since 96. They probably just don't have enough time, too busy touring. Guys like Sander van Doorn aren't as big on the DJing thing (yet), so their productions are far more refined and original.

Once you become a big DJ, your productions are never gonna be as good. You can only be a great DJ or a great producer, you can't be both. Simple as that.

Tiesto isnt a good producer? Is that the only track you've heard from him, "Just Be"? Armin isnt compared to Tiesto producing wise, but Armin has put out good stuff in the past. PvD has put out some great productions, not this year with The Other Side, but his up there in my books.

anywho... Shivers is an alright album, the best out of this whole cd imo would be ZoCalo! The rest of the this cd is pretty chill cept for control freak and serenity. but its not that bad.

I mean i know Armins production has gone downhill a bit, comparing to communications, blue fear, sound of goodbye etc etc... not including all his great remixes in the past too.. but he's still one of my all time fave djs because of the fact that he's been around for such a long time and still keeps up with his ASOT show even though he didnt have to, and that when you see him live, he's never f*cked up and always smiling! sooo those oare my 2 cents

Every aspect of this post reeks of someone who has just found trance within the last year or so. I remember the days when Armin was warming up for DJ's at Gatecrasher, and to be perfectly honest that wasn't all that long ago, (2001/02). This CD is shit, and fair play to the BBC for actually giving a non-subjective review for a change.

i dont agree with this tbh. i mean using armin as an example, we know he can produce good tracks because he has done in the past, sky falls down, rapture etc. he has definatly got worse, but im sure the talent is still in there somewhere. maybe. errmm. dont know
