I understand that it wasnt your scene, but I thought its a good idea to get exposure. |
I asked the promotor 3 seperate times if I was going to have CDJ 1000's and he said yes all 3 times. I show up and lone behold, NO CDJ 1000's!!! They were over at the house stage but there were none at the trance area. I wandered around this strange, dark, eerie place for about 30 minutes and finally found Tranz and spoke to him for a bit. Out of chance the promoter happens to wander over and I am like WTF, you said I was going to have CDJ's. So he takes off to "find out" what was going on and never comes back. I waited around for almost and hour until Tranz was nice enough to go look for the dude. Tranz couldn't find him so I said fuck it and left. I have never ever ever EVER in my life been to such a drug fest. I had barely stepped out of the car and I was already being offered every drug on the face of the earth. A dude was like trying to force us to buy his drugs. Once inside the main area every other person we walked by asked if we wanted X or 'shrooms. What blew my mind was when the PA in the security guard's patrol car was used to announce the sale of illicit narcotics. They turned on the lights on the car (strobe lights and shit like that) and started saying "X, come over and buy some X. We also have 'shrooms for sale. This is not a joke, if you want to buy drugs please come to the patrol car with the flashing lights. Oh, we are also selling acid" The venue was almost pitch black with the exception of a few spread out torches and the glowsticks that were all the rage. We actually had to use our cell phones as flashlights to find our way to and from the cars. I have never felt so dirty in my life! My shoes are all full of dust now! Fuck the bullshit, those shoes are only available at one store in the U.S. and I went and fucked them up!!! I was absolutely blown away by the ratio of E tards to sober humans. My calculations seem to sugest it was around 50:1 The thing that scared me the most that night was as we were going up the hill drivers under the influence of something were bombing down the very same hill coming straight at us as if we weren't even there. We had a close tangle with death We tried to make the best of a bad situation and wandered around for a bit, but it wasn't long before we hand incense sticks in our hands so that we could "draw circles in the air" LOL! It was cool to finally meet GodMadeTrance, sorry you didn't get to hear me spin but you know why. I could not believe people were laying in the dirt like wild beasts. We tried to mingle with the crowd for a bit before I just looked around at everyone and said fuck this, there is no way I am going out like this. So we left. I am sure I left a ton of stuff out so I will leave it to Juniorchavez to pick up my slack on this one

and yeah why did that girl hand us incense as if they were sparklers... she was rather strange
ok.... so....
i have never driven so far up a mountain on a horrible bumpy road to find my self driving all the way back down. LOL!
also i wanted to point out that poor ruben aka electrophile, mary aka paradise, and aaron aka swinebomb, almost got hit by some lunatic racing down the hill in his car... ummmm yeah, slow down please? lol wow.
as for the party... verdugo brothers are an awesome duo, they have great tracks and awesome mixing... why were there only 2 people in the "house room"? and i do use the term "room" loosley, the house AREA was well... also a parking spot lol. TheeO, however, pulled a few more peoples so that was awesome... but unfortunately that was as full as the house area would probably get all night.
funny thing was someone told me to watch out for the right turntable... it was skipping a few times.
hmmmm well... that sure shows the quality of equipment these guys deal with. not to mention that the djs were not on a stage, but just at ground level with the crowd... perfect for having nosy party goers push buttons on your mixer lol.
and there was sooo much dirt in the air at the trance area... i feel bad for that guy's records... man...
as for the quality of people... mostly kids so out of it that they wouldnt tell the difference between lil john and the cheezy trance they were already being smuthered with. i, being sober since december 21st 1983, felt uneasy knowing that no one there truely cared about the music. just not my type of scene.
so after looking around and laughing at how i would possibly want to stay untill 10am to spin for 2 people... we went home. allll the way back home.
the end.

It really makes me sad to read this thread and see how shitty this event turned out to be.
I was asked to play this party several months ago, and I turned down the gig because the promoter seemed like he had no clue what he was doing and to be honest he just seemed like an asshole, I asked him a bunch of reasonable questions about the event and he had no real answers for me.
It was very obvious to me that it was a first time production run by people who had no experience, coming from the underground scene myself and throwing underground/outdoor evnts for years, I decided I did not want to be a part of this event. Ironically enough, I was then told by the promoter that I was "too Hollywood", hahaha...
I apologized to him for asking questions like, where is the location, who are the other djs, how many events have you done, do you have a website, what time slots, etc... and wished him luck on his event.
I feel really bad for all the DJs involved and for any of the poor people that drove out and wasted their night (when they could have been at the insane Will Spin For Food loft party )...
What pisses me off the most is that this guy throws a shitty event like this, then all the TAs come on and bash it (rightfully so in this case), and then other TAs read the reviews and get a COMPLETELY FALSE impression of what an outdoor party really is like... and that fucking sucks.
I have thrown so many great outdoor events with good people, music and vibes.. and I know many other crews that throw quality outdoor events as well ..
then one guy can put a sour taste in everyones mouth cuz he went and tried to play "promoter"...
sweetcandy and others that read this:
this review should not affect your decision to go check out a future outdoor event..
I guarantee there are lots of amazing ones and as long as you just investigate who is doing the party and their track record, then you will probably end up having one of the best EDM experiences of your life.
edit:
and WHAT THE FUCK WAS UP WITH TICKET PRICES????
are you kidding me??
1st event.. outdoor.. no headliners (sorry to anyone playing, but none of us would be considered "headliners" enough to justify charging 30 dollars)
and then the party is shit???
wtf??
