lemme take one more stab at this,
I don't post on the interent while drunk, I don't have the powers of concentration to do so. I get online and next thing I know I have ten windows open and I am interested in none of them. Hell, I don't even know how half of them got there.
This is a theoretical arguement to me.
I understand that c0r is currently faced with a problem. People are getting annoyed by a plethera of drunk threads. TA is a community and when a significant part of the community has an issue it is right and proper that the mods step in. So the mods did step in, they made a rule. I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH THE RULE. The issue that I do have is that there has been no solution given.
Many drunk threads are incredibly pointless and stupid. It is completely normal that most people don't want to see or read them. There are a few people however (generally discribed as c0r whores) who live their TA lives for drunk threads. It's their entertainment. They don't post in music, don't post in sports, don't post anywhere but c0r. These people are also owed something by the community.
TA's as a comunity have a "right" to browse the c0r without seeing 48 "omg I am wasted" threads. But others, the TA's that do enjoy posting drunk threads, are also owed something. They should have somewhere to post their drunk nonesense!
At the current time now the only solution that has been presented is that they should post in their local forums. I am saying thats not good enough. c0r is a community. Just like any of the regional forums there are c0r regulars, c0r lurkers, and c0r newbies. If Floorfiller (for example) posted something in the CO. thread odds are very good I would never see it. but if he puts in in c0r I am very likely to see it. If the only possible sollution is to force him (once again, for example) to post in the CO. thread I am being deprived of a part of my online community. There are a lot of various forums, the new SETA forum has a forum ID of 86. Does that mean that I should have to drop into 86 seperate forums to find out what is going on? Doesn't this defeat the purpose of having a c0r to begin with?
And the answer is so simple, make a drunk thread and sticky it. People posting new drunk threads get suspended
