I love that track, but it's more than a year old. He dropped it in July, 2004 at Nature One.

Don't get me wrong, there's still quality out there, but you'll have to dig through tons of piss poor tunes that aren't worth the vinyl they're pressed on to discover a bit.

True, but there's plenty of house/prog/techno and other EDM sub-genre shit releases too. The reson there's more shitty trance releases is because there's a whole lot more trance tracks out there than any other type of EDM releases. I'm very sure that if the likes of Dj sammy, armin, or other hated trance dj's and producers who are considered shit lately would produce/remix house/prog/techno tunes that genre would have a bunch of crap releases. It's all about the almighty dollar people, they're going to put out as much shit is they can to appeal to as many people as they can. Just because you hate Dj sammy or tiesto doesn't mean the guy/girl next to you feels the same way..why do you think the likes of tiesto and armin have almost always been in the dj mag top 5 list..it's their popularity. Even if you don't like tiesto, he is the world's most recognized Dj and you know that as well as I do.

I really don't like the direction the TA forums have been going lately, there's way too many posters who basically have nothing but negative things to say about the so called SUPER DJ'S and PRODUCERS.
Let's see you try to skyrocket your career and popularity to their level..they're going down in history for contributing so much to EDM.

Tiesto, Armin, Paul van dyk, Paul Oakenfold, Ferry Corsten, Dj Sasha, The Thrillseekers, Oliver Lieb, Nu Nrg, Above & Beyond , Gabriel & Dresden, Airwave, Airbase and the list goes on.

I love all these producers even though that anyone can admit that not everything they put out is quality. But let's try to remember all the classics they all put out over the years and all they have contributed to the EDM fans. I've been around TA forums for about 5 years now and used to love how these forums used to be with "Fair" reviews and inteligent posts. I doubt we'll see that again.

I never said there wasn't. There's an awful lot of shit released in techno as well, a genre which is among my very favourites.

It's just bloody annoying to see producers that have put out quality releases in the (not so very distant) past going down the aforementioned shitter nowadays. Progressive being the prime example for me, not your average superstar trance DJ. I am truly gutted to see that producers that did so well a few years ago resorted to carebear fluff, and I criticize them for that. Blame me. I refuse to keep worshipping producers for what they've done in the past, if their current work is subpar.

People getting more critical is a natural reaction against the shitload of annoying fanboy airheads that invaded this forum in the last year and a half, I think.

I understand your frustration and you bring up some real good points about the current state of EDM . The reason they probably put out so much carebear fluff is because they don't have the hunger and determination anymore. The ones that been around for a while now feel in a way "comftorable" in the position they're in. It sometimes feels like they really don't give a fuck anymore. The one who surprised me the most lately is Dj Sasha when you compare his latest stuff to the older releases going back 1 1/2 years +. Way too many damn producers are putting out more shit than we need.

That was exactly my point, yes. I'm about to see Anthony Pappa tonight, I'm interested to see whether he has been able to stay at the level he was at three, four years ago. The last proper set I've heard of him is from 2001, and I love it.. We'll see what he's up to nowadays.

I buy and listen to both, alleged "cheesy" trance and "original" trance. What's the big deal? So PVD is wrong if he thinks IVD listeners don't listen to PVD and vice versa.

"If you look around, like some of my colleagues, they do things that, you know, I would hope music would never have to go through. I mean this music is not done for some cheesy concert shit, with some magician playing stuff, or some weird Mickey Mouse bullshit; this music is done for like clubs, it's done for events where people go out and want to listen to their music; and this is what music actually should be like." - Paul van Dyk

Interesting...

EDIT: Am I picking up a bit of a Tiesto burn in that quote..??

BULLSHIT! Trance is more and is more to many ppl! Heh this perspective allows commercialise of the music! Very easily! And whoever said that knows it .And there is not significant difference between a tiesto concert and a enormous event having pvd playin it lots of money shity music lots of profit Pvd just thinks of his own reputation and he tries to keep it up in any way and i don't know fuckin y.Dissappointing

What are u doing van dyk? what are u trying to say?that u are pushin the pure and the others are commercialised? No y are doing what ur other colleagues are tyin to do:keep the profits and the reputation to the maximum u are though in a different way This is so insane

this is insane

man, i read the whole damn topic and right now i feel like i dont wanna live anymore, WTF!
i listened to a great liveset by Paul Van Dyk - Nature One2005 , and i doubt it's "cheesy". it's a shame dj's around the globe tend to get more "commercial" lately , but there's nothing you can do about it, so stop wining about it. everyone has his time. a great example - Humate, man were those tracks and remixes genius superrockers UNTIL the last 2 years, it's all gone electro-techno-minimal WTF!?
i thought of PvD's Crush (Vandit Dub) superrocker 2! not "cheesy as for me". and Tiesto ofcourse - the shitwriter of the year, the #1 "cheesy" trance. think he sucks really hard? what about his famous In My Memory album (2001) Flight 643, Lethal Industry, Suburban Train, his remixes on Venus, Silence etc. everything COMES AND GOES. and there's gonna be a new high tide, a new wave of "great" trance releases
but we....partygoes, music-lovers, clubbers will continue to rock 2 the great tunes, and that's our mission....
end

Comparing PvD to van Dahl or DJ Sammy is ridiculous. Not even close

I did and without liking it at all, I can say you are really exaggerated. Between which Sammy's album have you listened to compare with Reflections?
