i dunno where this thread is going but i srsly recomend the

cdj's 800

they are a good starting point, and u wont need to replace them for a better model as u get better and better, unlike if u got a 100 or 200

the 1000 is preatty much for pro use only or if u got shitloads of money to blow. i like the 800 cause it has loops. im a fan of loops.

mixer meh just get a cheap one plus an effexbox which should run u less than an expensive mixer and it has more goodys an effx500 should od the trick, have not played with a 1000 yet

If you want to mix the most important and under-rated skill is that of dexterity, something you will definately not earn if mixing with cds. It's important because you don't get it from anywhere, you need years of experience to get used it.

Yeah vinyls are expensive, but being a dj isnt much of an inexpensive hobby. Besides, i think if you were to start with cds you are more likely to wonder how things would've been different if you started with vinyl. Vinyl should always be a foundation, cds should only follow.

Yo man, at least you're not shoveling your way through 20-30 cm of Snow!

As for the vinyl/cd thing; I always say that it's nice to start off with vinyls because the DJ looks like (s)he does more and it's more personal. The digitalism of CDs takes something special away from the mixing.
Of course I say this as a person who's never mixed before and likes to go to the events and see the DJ do his thing.

So just an opinion...
