If ferry can't make it, we can get soups in a 10 hour exclusive (on behalf of open dex). I'm willing to negotiate soups on the basis that he gets a 10 hour set only.

i haven't read this entire thread but i think dj's have to stop thinking about themselves and pushing their own careers as individuals.
face it, just about everyone's a dj these days and only one in a billion will make it to the top.
if dj's stopped going out on their own tangent, trying to prove themselves as being the greatest thing sinced sliced bread, and focused on pushing the crew's they're associated with, the nights might just be more successful.
people don't rock up to a night to see you play, they come out to have a good time, and if you all stopped obsessing with yourselves you might be able to give them that.
*end rant*
p.s i was extremely coked whilst writing this

It's quite simple..... the dj's do not know how to play to a crowd.
ask JPL he learn't the hard way and he's the only one i'm impressed with at the moment.

you can all cum to an event I am having called happy snappy flappy flaps on ice (named after a designer fragrance, of course!)... it will be held in conjunction with my birthday and Cosmic Gate have agreed to play on the proviso that no and I repeat NO PUSSY TRANCE ARSE MOFO'S ARE ALLOWED IN!!!
p.s. this is a Better Entertainment and Showstopper sponsored event so stick that in ya pipe and smoke it!

i agree to a certain point... yes djs should know what croud they're playing to however when it comes down to the crunch, people are going to a night to see the dj
you shouldnt have to change what style you play, people should be there to see you play your own style

It sounds good in theory that a dj stay true to what he plays and he is unique and not just an asot clone blah blah but
it really is a catch 22 situation, if the crowd is bored shitless from what you are playing you are going to loose punters, ppl pack up and go and sometimes never return.

unless you are nik fish or kid kenobi or someone like that then people arent going out to see the dj. they are going out to have a good time...the dj's job is to help them enjoy the night - then if the dj is really good at making people enjoy their night - then they get like nick fish and kid kenobi.
most dj's like lots of different styles of music - the good ones just have the skill to be able to work out which style will work on the night. i saw a perfect example of this at the last inprogress night with chris meehan - not the most corwded room, but everybody in the joint was dancing after about 3 tracks - he werked out what would werk and made it happen.
