I cannot believe in MoTown we imported a band for the Superbowl.

WTF America?! And where was the flyby??

I agree that Mick Jagger can't carry his voice anymore at all.

Does anybody remember Steve Tylers National Anthem at a superbowl a few years back?! It was AWFUL. These ppl need to be stopped.

I must say, football is a great sport, being a soccer fan all of my life, now that i have learned almost everything about football, i can say FOOTBALL > SOCCER . I think soccer is interesting, when you have two good teams, but in soccer you usually know who is going to win, and with a 3-1 lead into 70th or 80th min, its really hard to come back..but then again its hard to score goals in soccer. It depends really, I love the world cup or european cup when you have nations playing againts each other..kind of gives me chills..but i think football is more of an intelligent sport, more tactics, more varieties.

I also love basketball, but out of basketball, soccer and football, football is more intesting, the way its built with playoffs and everything. oh yeah..and football isnt a pussy sport lol

I don't remember him doing the Super Bowl, but in 2004, he did Game 1 of the World Series. I guess it was fitting, since Aerosmith is from Boston, and it was in Fenway Park, but that was bad. I think he got some of the lyrics wrong too.

Uh, I think he means when the Red Sox were in the World Series two years ago.

Damn, this thread is so retarded.

Both sports have a big tactical component, no-one can deny that. I don't know much about american football, but can believe in it being more complicated tactical-wise. Each team having their own playbook does seem impressive. However, don't underestimate "soccer", it's not like the managers say "hey lets play 4-4-2 today" and that's it, there's several variations of each tactic and the individual instructions each player receives can be very diverse. Good tactical organization can make a huge difference between two teams - for ages it was the reason why african teams couldn't get any close to the competitivity of european and south american sides.

The argument of being too hard to come back in "soccer" when it's 3-1 at 80 minutes was very dumb, surely it's quite hard as well when it's 21-7 with 5 minutes to go in an american football match?

I also really liked this one: "It has more action than soccer because it's not just 22 players running after the ball." Yeah, when Chelsea loses the ball they tell all 11 players to run after the guy with the ball Just because the players aren't grabbing their opponents it doesn't mean they aren't being marked

Calling american football a "pussy sport" is another fantastic argument, this time from the other side. Well done, i'm sure with the protections nobody gets injured ever in that sport.

Finally, I'd like to make an argument in favour of "soccer": its beauty is in its simplicity which makes it such an universal sport. Any kid in any part of the world can just hook up with 3 or 4 friends and play a "soccer" game in a little bit of space. Drop the offside rule, and you've got tons of street variations which are incredibly simple: just try to score more goals than your opponent without using your hands. Is practicing like that good enough to reach world class level? Not at all. Is it lots of fun? Hell yes.

In the end it all comes down to personal preference.. i don't believe there is a "better" sport.

agreed...

just out of curiousity, here's a question for you soccer fans... when professional soccer players retire, what kind of jobs do they do afterwards? In football, you learn a lot of skills that prepare you for jobs afterwards... i could name a few that have become high-ranking politicians (one's a hall-of-famer)...

Well have you ever put all those pads on and have other players tackle your ass. Rugby is not a pussy sport nor is soccer. But I played high school football, and believe me the pads might help but you can still feel the pain and the sorness the day and the bruises you have tells you its not a pussy sport.
