For stuff to do in Niagra Falls. It depends on how picky you are and what it is you want to do. If you want clubs then your out of luck unless you like hearing Top 40 stuff, but if you just want to go out and have some pints then it's not so bad... St. Catherines is better for that... larger city less tourist. There are EDM events that pop up once in a while, but it's usually nothing special.

Mikey, I'd say your move is entirely possible, I just wouldn't live in Niagara if I were you and instead choose TO as the next closest and largest town that's nearby. I mean as others have said the drive isn't long at all to get there so it's completely doable. Btw you still owe me that PvD set from 2001 at Warehouse. :P

One thing I have found is that it doesn't really matter where you go in the world, public transport is always shit and will always let you down at some point. And this is coming from someone who has frequented cities like Amsterdam, Berlin, London, New York on a regular basis, where the public transport is supposed to be shit hot. I disagree. So poor public transport in Niagara wouldn't really come as a shock. I would want to drive anyway.

Upon entering the UK, a Canadian or American citizen can use their drivers license for 1 year. After that it becomes invalid, and they will need to take our drivers test to apply for a UK license. Is that similar in Canada? Will my UK one be vaild for a certain amount of time?

This is of some comfort I suppose. The thought that civilization is nearby if I feel secluded or even lonely is quite reassuring.

Yea the housing is so cheap compared to the UK. The places her family have been looking at are massive 7 bedroom houses, which are cheaper in price than say a small 3 or 4 bedroom house in the UK. Crazy.

What are peelers? And what is the drinking age in Canada?

Really? That's good to know. I suppose it being such a high tourist area there would be quite a few restaurants to try out? We go out for meals quite a lot so this would be ideal if it were the case.

Well, if I were to do this I think we would get married so I could be a Canadian citizen and get my visa. She was born in America you see, but was registered in Canada too; since thats where her family lived when she was just a baby before moving to the UK. Which is pretty cool really because if we work all this out, in the future we have the choice of living in America, Canada or the UK without hassle or regulations, visa's, etc. I'm 21 and she is 20. She is not done with school yet, and is going to train to be a dentist, and as such has managed to find a suitable course at a University nearby. I want to go back to University too but am not decided on what I want to do yet.

But this actually leads me to another question. When looking at tuition fee's the prices are ridiculously more for foreigners such as myself. If I were to marry my girlfriend, would I too qualify for the cheaper tuition fee's that all other Canadians get, or would I still be classed as a foreigner and have to pay more?

How old do you even have to be in Canada to get married?

w00t! Maybe i'll start my own night in Niagara.

Good to know, cheers.

Yea I read about it having a considerably large Italian-Canadian community on wikipedia.org. What the fuck's that all about?
Thanks again guys.

Transportation: no, it really really sucks in Niagara. but again like you said you will likely be driving anyway so its a moot point.

Driver liscense: Yeah what Veritgo said, I can verify that they just make you swap. I had US drivers liscence and they just made me cut it up and they handed me a new one. depending where you are from they may want you to write a written test.

As for tuition: just wait until you have lived here for a bit and can get more documentation showing you are somewhat naturalized. As long as you have a Canadian address for mailing when you apply they usually do not ask questions!
For years I claimed to live in Ottawa. (used my grandparents mailing)

Age to get married: You are both covered. I think it's 18 without parental permission and like 16 with it. Either way even if I'm wrong by a bit I know you are fine for it by age 18, Don't worry.

Itailian-Niagara thing: I have no idea either whats up with that.

That's good. I think it's about 3 times as much for a foreigner. Rididulous.

Cheers again everyone.

There really isn't much else there. Actually, last couple times I was at the Sundowner in Niagara Falls, about 60% of the music they played was mainstream house- the world is mine, shiny disco balls, etc. So you're best bet in Niagara Falls/Buffalo for EDM or any kind of nightlife is the Sundowner. I'm not kidding. My gf didn't like the first time there, but she got used to it. Once you reach a certain age, all the crappy hangouts for tourists and 19 year olds lose their appeal. (sorry if I offended any 19 year olds).
I can't believe Northeast, PA was mentioned on this forum. I worked in a "city" that I won't mention a few more miles to the west.

world is mine, shiney disco balls and now call on me and some DHT.. it sucks it scuks it sucks! Buffalo is the armpit of America... but I'm going to change this

Anyone in the Buffalo or Niagara area listen to club 246 - 100.7 fm??
