I agree to an extent, but you're comparing completely different styles of music.

I thought the trackselection in Fundacion was so so, but the mixing of the first half is excellent. The mix between Come To Me -> MANDY - Jah -> Behind The Wheel is excellent.

Coldcut's 70 Minutes of DJ Madness is probably one of the greatest deejay compilations ever (need an open mind for dis one).

Global Underground's 017 CD 1 is just outstanding but GU013 CD 2 is just genius and how the tracks fit together is great.

Personally, I much prefer CD1 way more than CD2, which I could never (and still can't) get into as a whole. To me, CD1 has the far better track selection and programming, as where CD2 just seems too inconsistent and lacks the smooth flow that first disc sets up so well. Nothing beats the mixing between Jimpy - Talkin', Space Manoeuvres - Stage One, and Sander Kleinenberg - Sacred, which is probably three of the best track sequences I've heard out of any dj mix.

IMO, GU:013 CD1 is the epitome of what a dj compilation should be and I have yet to find a compilation that truly matches the track selection, the quality of tracks (no fillers), mixing, and flow from beginning to end. However, I will say that Bedrock 3 CD2 by Chris Fortier is a very close second in terms of the above qualities.

I agree
I was going to mention GU 013 CD 1 but you beat me too it

my favorite period of the album though is everything from track 1 (Raff 'n freddy - deep progress) through track 6 (sander kleinenberg - my lexicon)

but the entire album is amazing

cd 2 I like, but it doesn't even come close to the cd 1

GU13 still gets me everytime I listen.

MMII is another album that should be thrown out for discussion.
