it's not a myth. 2 of my friends participated in some medical survey/study about E, well they did spinal fluid checks on both of them to see if they are indeed E-poppers (that study payed well), since E leaves some sort of residue (not sure it's a right word) behind |
not sure if E itself leaves the residue but cerebralspinal fluid will contain amounts of 5-HIAA which is the byproduct of serotonin being broken down by the MAO enzyme... the levels in the spinal cord will be different after E use.
this death sounds like it might be hyponatremia (from the brain swelling description)
(edit: I wonder if this person was on antidepressants also... a lot of people try this, and taking E while on SSRI or MAOI antidepressants might cause serotonin syndrome, which has all sorts of bad to fatal effects... dunno if brain swelling happens from that though)
btw there may be means to detect MDMA right from excretions in sweat... just saw a write up for something called a "Drugwipe" test that allegedly can be applied to underarm pits and MDMA can be detected within at least a 12-hour window after use... it's designed to be used for roadside testing, dunno if it's been put into use anywhere but iiiiinteresting
