Afrikaans here in South Africa has it's roots in Dutch. I could possibly understand most of what is said in Dutch, but I couldn't read all of it because the spelling is so different and some of the words have changed totally.

most french speak english but not as well and most younger germans speak at least some english.
thats right. I was on holiday in Spain when a girl from England said the same thing. Its probably because we learn it in the purist way possible and don't talk "local" English if I can put it that way. but it still would be a lot easier if you'll spoke Dutch

Um, ok, let's try this... you either can't believe or are glad that we know trance in africa, and that I might be the only trance addict but that doesn't matter? (not sure about that last part.) and then of course the trance is one nation part is totally understandable *grins*
The parts I didn't totally understand are:
echt wel te gek?
bent = is?
dat doet er niet to?

Good point, but if you went to some parts of England having only learned "the Queens" (proper) English you'd have the same problem. The east end of London for instance where a lot of rhyming slang is used, and some of the regional accents and local dialects in the North of the country make it very hard for even me (living in the South) to inderstand without really concentrating. And don't even get me started on Cornwall
The moral of this story? tu_face, GoldenarmZ and Rainbowbrite all talk funny.

yeah, I know that too, the accents and all, especially going in the other parts of UK (like N Ireland or I guess even Scotland) where things can get really hard.
