Don't get chardonnays that are oaked, then. I used to have the same opinion of chardonnays, because most are too buttery and creamy. You just have to find producers that use steel barrels as opposed to oak. I've had some good unoaked chardonnays that are nice and crisp after I learned to rule out chardonnays from oak barrels.

White wine as a general rule, is either unbelievably good or tastes like cat piss, theres no real middle ground especially with Chardonnay(for me that is...). That's why I stick with red. Never really dissapointed unless it's complete acidic garbage...

i dont really give a crap as long as it's red and medium-light bodied. the only white i like is pinot grigio...i don't like that woodsy white wine flavor like chardonnay (sp?). i like a sweeter, more crisp white. for the most part though, i'm all about red. i like pinot noirs and i like shiraz too. as long as it doesn't have too much of that bite, it's all good.
i dont really like drinkig too much red wine though, i get really emotionally drunk off it for some reason. anyone else have that problem?
like White Zinfandel??

much experience with cat piss have we?
plain and simple - red tends to lean towards more fruity wine where as whites are more dry with the exception like GHB said about oaked chardonnays that create a heavier taste
I could be quite wrong with the generalization but I stick to it
red with meats
white with seafood
sangria with sun (lovely outdoors)
and the staple for this past weekend
beer with bbq! LOL

I've been drinking wine way longer than i should have been and my dad loves the stuff, i'm drinking some right now actually!
I should have said Chardonnay tastes like cat piss smells.
And Adi, i'll hit you with a few more recommendations seeing as you liked the Pesquera.

Spanish Tempranillo, absolutely sublime. Quite expensive but my favourite of the Spanish reds. Honestly, at least try and get a bottle of the 1997,1999 or 2001 at least once in your life with a good meal. It's the definition of great wine.
Hmmm based on adi's recommendation I will buy a bottle of this stuff.

lol i know enough about wine to know that white zin = crap. you might as well drink some boones farm crap. i used to work at a nice steakhouse as a server and we had wine reps in all the time for tastings and all that. that's where i first learned about all the diff genres of wine.
anyway, i said i like any pinot grigio when it comes to white. that's about it though. i'm sure if i went to some fancy winery place and tried a bunch of different whites, i'd like a bunch, but i've always liked red more. lighter reds...

You should, it's awesome, it's like being smashed in the head with a gold brick wrapped in fruity, winey goodness...
