I feel the same as many of you regarding PvD peaking with Out There And Back, however I have to say that Reflections contained some great (albeit different) songs too like Crush, Time Of Our Lives and Nothing But You.
I also quite like Complicated, that melancholic hook is doing it for me.
He did go commercial very aggressively with Reflections (and got a Grammy nomination) but ya cant fault the man for trying to earn some cash. As long as he provides Club mixes/dubs...
Be happy that he is still around! So many artists die |
I'm sure PvD isn't very low on cash...he's been highly paid for gigs for years now, it's not like he HAS to make a commercial album to put food on the table.
This pisses me off because there have been way too many producers in the past couple of years go in the commercial direction (Chicane, BT, Tiesto, PvD, Ferry Corsten). All used to make amazing productions that had a lot of meaning to them, everything they make now is just flat and boring (BT's new album could be a possible exception). Sadly now that they've started making music in this direction they'll never go back to their old style. The best you can expect nowadays is from up and coming, new artists.
