ETN right from the start was attracting 500 plus listeners daily, where did you get your listener figure from?

Question: if you was booked into a club and only had 25 ppl in front of you, would you just stop and leave the decks or would you carry on?

As for ETN it was not as if you was doing your set live, for all we know you could have been playing your latest demo cd but thats not the issue, surely playing for a station like ETN, your purpose is to entertain, even if only one person listened to you and was entertained, then have you not accomplished what you set out to achieve?
Your role as a producer and a DJ is to entertain and the amount of ppl you entertain should not come into it

I am sure also that you intended to use ETN as another way of promoting yourself, to get yourself more widely known which is not a problem as a great many DJ's including myself also use ETN as a way of promoting ourselves, BUT remember this, it was a FREE way of promoting yourself, all you had to do is give 2 hours of your time once a month or week depending on your schedule, not really a great price to pay for a bit of free promotion eh.

A great many more DJ's and producers that are on ETN that are more succesful than yourself, have no problem with the station or others of similar ilk as its a way to express themselves, entertain those who listen to the stations and the added bonus of free promotion.

It's also a means of communicating with those who PAY to go see them DJ or PAY to buy thier productions, they get great feedback from those who listen to ETN and it's not all arse kissing, they get a lot of constructive feedback which helps to ensure the future of trance and also to explore new dimensions of trance which helps keep it fresh.

ETN who provides a free service to all those that listen provide quality programming for little or no recompense, the staff and DJ's of ETN do it purely because they love our genre of music and without stations like ETN, trance and it's subgenres would not be as diverse and as popular as it is.

+1 couldn't have said it better. 100% agree.

I'd also like to add that most of the people bashing it are the people who say only "bedroom" dj's play on it.
But in this global market of dj's and producers dont we have already two strong channels for the "known" producers. PROTON/Frisky radio.
It's a sad day when people in the same scene bash others striving to be somebody as well.

Theres only a handfull of DJs on ETN

There are producers who made one track played by mcschulz and they get a show, theres wannabe djs who play for themselves in their parents basement

You see, if you have a couple of good shows, surrounding it by utter shit is going to lead to people thinking that the station is shit

look at the tlist forum for examples of wannabe djs and mcprog producers

How many would you call a handfull? five?

here are just some of the DJ's / Producers that all play for ETN

Activa
Adam White
Agnelli & Nelson
Cor Fijneman
Danjo & Styles
Ernesto vs Bastian
Filo & Peri
Gabriel & Dresden
Graham Gold
John O'Callaghan
Kristina Sky
Kyau vs Albert
M.I.D.O.R.
Manuel Le Saux
Mark Norman
Menno de Jong
Mesh
Phynn
Ron van den Beuken
Ronski Speed
Shawn Mitiska
Solarstone
Sonorous
Suzy Solar
Yves Deruyter

All of those names are well known, well established DJ's and Producers.

And yes there are a lot of unknown DJ's that play for ETN but everyone thats now established was an Unknown once, and a lot of the unknowns on ETN play sets with better track selection, better mixing skills and good set progression than DJ's like Tiesto and Armin.
Why, because they care about what they are playing, they care about how thier sets are going to be recieved, they care that yes they may be in the bedroom today but with any luck they will be playing out in a club tomorrow.

Half of those play out under 10 times a year, so no they arent DJs

They are producers

I hope to god these "DJ"s wont be playing out anytime soon, cus no one will go see them

I do not want ETN to die. As such I want to contribute to the survival of ETN by constructive critics in this thread.

I already mentioned two ways how to do it and I want to repeat and extend it here.

1.) The music: The music at least on the Trance channel sounds similar the whole day. You turn it on and you know exactly what you will hear. I do not think that this is good. You will listen only once a day or once a week because that is much like the "music rotation" of commercial "Top 40" stations. The Variety channel on ETN is much better in that respect but it is so "hidden" on the ETN frontpage. More variety, please. Just check around here at TA, you will find that Trance is not the only music style in discussion around her but rather EDM in general. That highlights my sayings even more...

2.) The DJs: ETN has many more shows to offer than DI.fm - and with good names - in part. Advantage ETN. But I think it is much better to have one high-quality channel, where all these high-level DJs get their shows than two or three channels. You will know: ETN1 is the channel with all the good names and nice shows everyone wants to listen to, let it be Trance, Progressive or Tech-House. One additional channel gives other DJs a platform, maybe with some experimental features such as World DJ music with DJs from South Africa (just an example...).
