Well then that's the choice you make. But In my personal, somewhat idealistic, opinion, if you aren't living out your dreams, or at least trying to, then you aren't living.

I understand why you would prefer to protect your children if you were to travel but starting at a young age is really the best thing in my opinion as it expands their minds early on and makes your children become more flexible.

Don't let potential parenting ( you're not yet prego are you ) prevent you from exploring around the world .

My sister in the Us just had her first baby earlier this year and she flew to France with her husband two months after and we drove extensively ( several 6 to 8+ hour drives ).
It does help that her daughter loves being in the car .... the only time she complains is when we are stopped! ( last long trip we did the whole drive was fine but as soon as we got in town she got fussy cause of all the stopping and going with the traffic lights ).

Exactly. I've been raised all around the world, greatest thing my dad ever did was get a job that moved him around the world.

This is a matter of circumstance, not exactly you fulfilling your dreams of wanting to travel ie. you didn't make sacrifices to go to those places, you went because your dad's work required him to go.

Meh.

I'm sure I'll visit at least half of the places on my list once in my life.

As for the other half: a man without dreams is a dead man already.

japan, i'm sure will be pricey...

last time i checked plane ticket rates, the range of a ticket was 1,000+ to 3,000+. and my bf has been to japan. he said it could be pretty expensive... hotel rates are at least 500$ (from what i have heard).

I made more sacrifices moving around to all these places than you can ever imagine. Of course I had no choice, but if I said I had to make no sacrifices I'd be lying. It's been difficult to move around this much, but extremely awarding.

I'm pretty sure it all depends on

- where you sleep
- what kind of "luxury" you need

Just like anywhere in the world.

Super de luxe hotels are so overrated, I mean, you're probably only there to sleep, so all you need is a bed and a shower.

Ya, maybe, but they are so much fun!

I've slept in quite a varied range of hotels, but until now, I have failed to see the 'fun' of overly luxurious hotels.

Please do enlighten me

500$ a night is high end.

You could make it with a daily spending amount of about 300 to 500 all inclusive and I am sure you could go much lower if you were to cut corners ( not eating out, going into hostels or what not ).

This is a very common misconception that travelling is for the rich! That is completely false.
Yes flying isn't cheap, but once you arrive at your final destination how you spend your money and sleeping arrangments etc dictate the overall cost.

There are many ways to travel without going broke.
