end of the day yes england havent played well but other countries keep saying if you play like that against a better side you will lose. that wont happen, thats how we play. if we play like that against a good side we will still play the same but still grind the result out. we will beat Portugal despite everyone doubting us

It was 35 degrees celsius with disgusting levels of humidity. No wonder England had a slower pace. Did you not see Beckham and Joe Cole almost barfing their guts out? I'd like to see any one of you get out there in that heat and play an inspiring, fantastic display of football for 90 minutes. Other than John Terry's blunder gift early, Ecuador had zero realistic chances on goal.

Lampard once again is proving he is the most overrated player on this England team. What a complete shit sandwich. Beckham played hard and delivered a beautiful strike when he needed to and that's all that matters. Rooney needs help up front or else all he does is chase balls all day and tire himself out. I better not hear the english press getting on Hargreaves again because he did well.

Playing marginal football and still winning.

the guy has just lost all ability to shoot. if you ignore that then he isn't too bad, just can't aim at the goal for shit. he needs to stay back more often & let gerrard do more up front. and i'm happy for hargreaves, he's been given more chance to improve recently and has come along a fair bit

the thing with england... you see their performance today & compare it with the better teams and you think they can't possibly stand a chance against them. but when it comes to the big matches, they never go down without a struggle

England are never blown away by anybody. If you look at the big matches over the last few decades, it's either been HORRIBLE RETARDED CALLS (86, 98, 2004) or on penalties or just losing to a better side (2002 against Brazil). The odd crapfest has come into play like the 2000 Euro, but England always give a good account of themselves when they go out.

I've been saying since the first game that Lampard is crap. I hope he scores a goal when I least expect it. I've been on Beckham for awhile and look what he does!

I really think England are on their way to the semis. Don't know about after that though.

and you should have seen my Portuguese infested neighbourhood a few hours ago! Honking their horns like they won the fucking Cup and they're probably all 4th generation Canadians. Fucking wankers.

I wouldn't go that far to say he's crap... He's just struggling at the moment, Lampard has always had a fine touch at Chelsea. Let's just wait and hope he recovers his long range bombs for the sake of England.

i knew it was hot, but not that hot... who can blame them for putting on a relativaly boring game.

becks kick was great. that wow'ed me.

the only other highlight of the game was the irony of rooney crying about not getting calls. he absolutely insists on playing football as if he were playing rugby by trying to roughhouse, dog pile, and plow over people like if he was the kool-ade man busting thu a brick wall... he's should consider himself lucky that the ref's have been lenient w/him.
