its not crucial to his manners but more to his eating habbits. lets face it- kids need to be taken out from time to time amd the odd happy meal is alright but it cant be a substitute for a nice, well-cooked meal.

But eating habits certainly shouldn't be dictated by restaurants... If anything, I'd say keeping your kids away from eating out would better prepare them for the real world.

I'd wager that 2 years worth of developmental psych at least gives me reasonable credibility in this discussion, not to mention the many highly publicized critiques of parents who perhaps rely on taking their children out to dinner a bit too often.

Yeah, so can all aspects of life, but trends are undeniable.

All I'm trying to point out here is that RapidFire's argument that kids somehow "need" the real world experience of eating in "nice restaurants" to develop proper manners is profoundly flawed.

+1, If I ever have kids, I would definitely break their faces if they said a racial slur.

And RJT, it all depends on the child.

You seem to be missing the point.

Yes, each child is different and must be treated appropriately.

No, a child does not need to go to a restaurant to learn propr public/social ettiquette.

That is all.

It's too much in my genes to prevent this from happening. Us Russians hate all equally. Even ourselves.
