what euphorica said about gear ratios, unsprung weight, etc kinda shows how we are missing a lot of factors. even like oil viscosity, every temperature that effects the motor and drive train, psi in tires all play a factor.

imo, every vechicle has its own speed and gear where it obtains its best fuel economy. therefore that speed/drag chart is different for every car, motor and drain train.

U serious? I run about 3000 rpm at that speed. I just enjoy going 140 for other reasons, nice to know i'm getting good fuel economy as well :P

cruising smoothly at 140 i'll be getting like 9.5l\100km
this is on a 1990 2.5litre 6cylinder motor that has 215,000km.
my rpms are around 3500 or so, i'll be able to hit 170km/h in 4th gear at redline.

I actually raced a Corvette on my Way to work this morning on the QEW in my X3. Here's the story.

I was on Miss. Rd. getting ready to go on the QEW, and this Corvette in front of me was going so damn slow, so I kinda got up on his ass to get him to go faster. He didn't like that and motioned me to pass him. So i went to, and he fucking sped up so I couldn't pass him. Bastard. So as soon as we got on the QE, we started racing.

Now I know that a Corvette could smoke me, but I still couldn't let him disrespect me like that. So I tried my best, and luckily there was a decent amount of traffic around 8:40ish this morning. So we were going like 160km going in and out of traffic. He was quite a ways a head of me, but I knew I could catch up and I did. He got stuck behind some fans and I went flying past him. As I was driving by him, he stuck his hands out the window and started clapping, but it was in a mocking kind of clap. He (probably a early 40s man) got passed by a 21-year old in a BMW 4x4 haha.

...oh, and I used quite a bit of gas doing that!


On not above. When I cruise at 130km/h I probably rev around 2500-2750 RPM, which ain't too bad.

And people wonder why their insurance is so high when they are young. I so wish the cops had pulled you over.....it would have been so justified.
