Now the only thing I don't like is your presentation. Calling your mix "Proper Trance" only makes you as pompous as the other djs spinning only big anthems and whatnot. You can make this your general style, but making it out to be better than anything else is pretentious. Kinda like the name "progressive" for genres.. just plain stupid.

i honestly dont find ur argument "proper"..... it might be cheese...but steve's placement of that track was immaculate... U can make cheese sound good at times....and this is trance, cheese pop out from almost every corner..... u gotta live with it... and when mixed the right way, people need to appreciate it.

I've downloaded it, and I'm really enjoying it so far. Great stuff.

What's the tune at about 25 minutes? It sounds really familiar but none of the names on the TL fit in with the memory.

I agree. Good trance, but not uplifting. Good example why ASOT is so popular. In my view the tracks sometimes lean toward Club Trance/House. Maybe even to Underworld or Chemical Brothers.

But it's a perfect example what Trance you like. I also liked this sort of tracks, e.g. "Lazonby - Scared Cycles", "Cosmic Baby - Hear Yourself Dreaming", but the uplifting ones always have been the tracks I played over and over, e.g. "Quench - Dreams", "Scooter - Unity Whitout Words Part 1", "Scooter - Cosmos", Scooter? Trance? YES (in the beginning.....), "Circuit - The Tranceport Of Love"
Rhythms are not that powerful or uplifting as ASOT tracks. Probably because classic trance nowadays is combine with the power of "German Techno", which many Europeans happen to like most.

I wound up listening to this again this afternoon.

What would an effort with 2006-2011 trance sound like? I don't listen to enough recent trance to be able to suggest many tunes. Perhaps some Aril Brikha or Satoshi Fumi would fit the bill?

The previous effort had Jaia & Vibrasphere; I think this 2009 release is eligible:

I still have this set on my HD. Might give it another listen.

I imagine an effort based on 2006-2011 stuff would still be predominantly prog-psy and J00F selections, with the trancier end of the Mistique stuff getting a look in as well. Certainly an interesting proposition, though.

EDIT: And the new Union Jack stuff, inevitably.
