meh..i told my friends that when PVD became number 1 that he wasnt gonna be there long. His performance last night pretty much verified my statement. the first 2 and a half hours were unbelievably booooring. i mean c'mon...your the number 1 dj in the world and u let tracks drag out beginning to end and even loop it to last longer.
Then the set got energetic for like a half hour when he had multiple tracks playing together and was doin his 3 minute mix thing, then it died out for like another 45 mins and then at the end he dropped for an angel and time of our lives which are both solid tracks that are always fun hearing live.
But anyways, he was defintely disappointing, he didnt even have a good opener, a lot of times he is creative with his openings but yesterday was the exception. He also played some cool tracks, but overall i wasnt impressed with track selection and the way he built up his set.
and i disagree with those of u who said last year sucked, i had a waaay better time last year than i did this year, he started strong and ended strong, the energy didnt drop for 1 second. This year the crowd didnt even look into it for the most part, everyone was conversing more than they were enjoying the show, thats an obvious sign of things needing to change.

had a pretty great time last nite, thought he threw down a pretty nice set imo..wasn't there from the start but stepped in right as he dropped Rank 1 - Life Less Ordinary, went over and grabbed some beer..after spendin 35min for the bathroom i decided it was better to be somewhat sober and dancin then drunk and watchin paul from a line but on to the more important bits..
ive never seen a dj so active behind the decks! it seemed like everytime i looked up he was clappin, jumpin up and down, smilin from ear to ear and just havin a great time...mixing seemed decent, or at least from 7 - 8 he seemed to be in a groove, transitioning btwn tracks pretty quickly and keepin up the energy...he def slowed things down a bit and the last 40 min were a lil predictable but fun nonetheless..he dropped stormy skies which was just ok, and complicated i was not a fan of at all.. ..i did like his mashup of playmo/ATRC early on and there was a few min that was straight out of his set from this year's coloursfest..think it was a transition into Rob Van Gelderen - This Way (Rank 1 Remix) ..lasers/light set up was awesome, def better effect without a tent over em
overall i had a great time, it was nice seein a lot of guys out again and at the afterparty too, ryan and vic's sets were def solid..got to hear mindcircus for the first time on a big system which made my night..left right around 4 so i could get some rest for Rd. 2...see ya'll there

ill keep my review short despite the precedents the previous TAs have set..
1) this set was pathetic compared to last year's CP and roseland
2) the drummer was amazing & i'm surprised he kept up the whole night... PvD could learn a lot about music from him
3) what the hell was with the music in the beginning, you know, the Showtime softcore porn music they were playing... it was horrible and i never want to hear it again
ATTN PVD
Get your head out of your ass & make up for this travesty, this poor excuse for a trance event. Make up for it at Roseland or you & tiesto will be fighting for #50. Armin, Above & Beyond, Matthew Dekay, Serge Devant, and Jason Jollins are getting my votes.
