hey, I agree. For me, this typically only happens these days when its a track I LOVE - in any number of shapes or forms - and I'm not expecting to hear it. And I can pretty much name you each time this has happened this year:

1) when you dropped Cicada rmx of "World in my Eyes" at Narcisse
2) probably when Woolford dropped that remix of a classic Chicago house track - the name escapes me - one of my fav house tracks from back in the day
3) Benassi - "Proper Education" at Purenation...
4) Second Sun - their remix of "Another One Bites the Dust" (w/ Cedric Gervais)

Congrats Yuris, you are in some elite company on the Rubin list. Serious I know I already said this but when you dropped that track - oh it was just PERFECT. PERFECT timing, crowd-wise, time-wise, intoxication-wise, mood-wise, JUST PERFECT. That night became golden for me instantly, just after hearing the first two measures of that track. And you know how I feel about DM. I had you at #2 spot when I started writing this.. but as I was thinking about it more while writing, I realized the absolute best moment for me this year, was when you dropped Cicada rmx at Narcisse. I mean, that was my biggest "OMG!!!!!!" moment. Just don't let it get to your head, kthx.

Anyway, might be missing a couple on that list because I don't remember - but that's about it. But honestly, if I don't remember, that tells me something. Funny how they are all versions of old skool trax, eh? I guess Im old skool, lol.

BUT - that doesn't mean other DJ's (and the tracks they play) fall short. Just means there aren't any blatant STAND OUTS. I still have a good time at most other shows as long as the main formulas are there - the people, the vibe, comfortable environment, and the booze helps too but its not always required. And I have trouble staying anywhere if I don't like the music, at least in some way - that's for sure. It must at least be tolerable. ;p

I hear you on the small lounge thing. And I have no trouble understanding what you are talking about. I think I probably have a different "agenda" at this point. So my situation is really not comparable to yours. BUT when I initially asked in reference to "social interaction" at clubs - and whether that was from a business standpoint - my point was that I can disagree, a good number of times: the music of the night can be the top bullet on my list. Then there are nights when I don't remember the music, at all. Such as, the last Smartbar outing we had - and that was an amazing night. So I guess my point is I think it can go to the extreme in BOTH directions - for me at least. I can go somewhere where I don't know anybody but the music is AMAZING and I can have an AMAZING night. Or, I can go somewhere and not have any clue what music is playing but due to the people in attendance I have an AMAZING time. Booze is also a factor, lol..

I liked that place too, I look forward to going there again and seeing the next BB gig. Misha was really good too.

i love miami. i love the scenery. i love the people. i love the freedom.

for the 2 yrs i went, i actually went to see dj's that were not too big, that i know for a fact will not come to the u.s or the coasts as much and definately NOT $100 a ticket. its always a pleasure listening to new talent and seeing what they have on their plate.

as for the alky situation. why not be like me and buy a pint of heinie in a brown paper bag and drink it as you walk.

Global Gathering ruined it for me, and many many others because Ultra would have had many of the artists that GG took. Because of this, Ultra had to set up an alternative stage, the one with the killers and shit. GG better not be there again.

OH MAN I see what you are saying now.. I guess the same artist can't be at 2 distanced events simultaneously, eh??? that sucks!

Well its in the contract that they are not allowed to do both. Now the issue is, Global Gathering has the event in the UK as well, and artists dont want to take the risk and say they wont play a global gathering in miami fearing they wont get signed again for the one in the UK. Thats why Tiesto decided to go neutral (to name one of many artists) and not do either gig - ruining it for everyone.

However, a Radio 1 party is a must this year, even though wetgrooves kicked ass with its artist lineup in the past years. Radio 1 is the shit (respect for wetgrooves in bringing many trance acts like cosmic gate, and psy like Infected Mushroom)
