Hahahah I'm kidding...by the actual definition of a rave you could TECHNICALLY still call these parties a rave.

But in slang terms, raves were typically the underground parties held in abandoned warehouses and such. Just slightly before my time

Anyway, I'm just kidding. Say what you will. At least you have some idea of what's going on in the EDM scene. Although it's a pet peeve of mine when people say "rave" when they're going to the Guv...for the most part it's when people who don't listen to the music stereotype EDM listeners and assume every "event" we go to is a rave.
