also, ive heard your argument "you dont need drugs, you shouldnt need drugs" many times, and its always from people that, at least on occassion, drink alcohol.

Actually I don't drink hardly any alcohol. Okay on occasions I do but I can't say I actually enjoy it. I don't really think I need anything like that in my system. It's so cliche for people my age (or younger) to drink and go out and party, that i've felt more to break away from what might be deemed as the "status quo" for college kids, or the stereotype. Haha I hate living up to them, it's nothing new, it's just the way I am. Yeah sure I might be missing out some might say, but I feel that having a good time shouldn't surround drinking and doing drugs and the such.

I wouldn't say i'm completely straight edge, but close to it. I just feel this is my personal thing, I am not claiming to be any better than anyone else who does things like drink, smoke and do illegal drugs. I don't care if people do those things on their own, it's none of my business. I just have my own personal convictions about them, and I'm not saying "drugs are bad", I'm just saying people shouldn't need them or rely on them for either experiencing music or for coping with problems or just with reality period.

I'm againist dependency for the most part. Not everyone who does drugs becomes dependent, but there are surely plenty of people out there who are. This doesn't just mean illegal drugs either as i've mentioned in other posts. Something I hope to achieve in my life and I want to help others achieve as well...is balance. And if this means drinking some alcohol on occasion, that's fine. It's not that I wont ever drink, it's just not something I particularly enjoy. I don't think there is anything wrong with that. That's all really....I am not trying to come across as a bigot who just says "drugs are bad", but more so explaining my rationale for me being againist them, which is a much better way of going about it. I want to discover the reasons why people do them and find alternative approaches to them. I'm into finding root causes for behaviors, and this is a part of psychology that i'm going into.

oh man. if thats all you want to know i can explain that real quick and easy.

why do people like music? one of the reasons is they listen to it to feel better, it can put them in a better mood. music is a drug in that sense.

why do people like chocolate, ice cream, or candy? sugar makes you feel better, makes you happy. kids get excited when they hear the ice cream truck for a reason. sugar is a drug in that sense.

this list could get really long ... massages, hot showers, jumping in a swimming pool, air conditioners, anything that makes you feel better. you dont NEED these things, you can have fun without them, but they definitely are nice and enjoyable. drugs are exactly the same thing. you dont need them, but they're very enjoyable. thats it! nothing more to it. people get addicted to sugar and get fat, or tv and become lazy, or crystal meth and get skinny. some people are screwed up in the head and use (err, abuse) drugs or anything else to make them feel better to compensate, thats where you come in.

practically all drugs come from the same place ... plants (except for one which is secreted from a certain type of toad, people lick the toad and get high). its just humans being crafty going around in the woods and sampling every plant, creature, anything the earth has to offer, experimenting over millions of years, and finding things that make them feel good, beyond just things that they need to survive.

and this just covers the feel good aspect of drugs, there's the spiritual aspect to some drugs (psychedelics) as well, just as there's the spiritual effect of some types of music too.

Your point taken. It's understandable that these are reasons for people taking them. As long as someone doesn't become addicted or dependent, I don't think it's that bad, however from all indications that i've heard over the years, it seems like these drugs are more addicting than others. But that still doesn't mean I support drug use. But like I said, people can also be addicted to drugs which aren't illegal, it's just more common to hear about people who addicted and dependent on illegal substances. I don't think people should be dependent on anything.

Even though I lean more towards liberalism politically (though I think i'm more of a moderate) I am more into the idea, esp with happiness and problems in life, in the philosophy of self-reliance. Yeah not everyone can do that, but I think a lot of people have the potentional to work through things without resorting to behaviors or substances which may become harmful...addicting and simply self-destructive. I just don't think all people are willing to do it...maybe it's a part of human nature, who knows....i'll continue this discussion later.

hehe

while we are playing the stereotype game, you go to these parties featuring specific genres of music,

at which of these parties are which drugs most present, just your observation here, not so much which drug matched which music, but which ones do you see the most.

in order of most rampant usage to least:
Dnb - Meth
Prog - Alcohol
Rock (like DMB relatively calm stuff) - weed
Trance - E
Rocks(harder) - caffeine

so many rednecks with missing teeth flailing to dnb omfg!
I;m gonna make country dnb remixes i swear, id be rich!
*grows mullet, takes meth, flails about like an idiot
