so, how does that fit into your argument jay?

I heard/read about that (Being pretty much the only russian speaking speaking catholic in the Bathurst Steeles neighbourhood you have no choice but to be surrounded by the jewish life).

It's one of the requirements you need to fill if you want to take advantage of Germany's or Israel's immigration for jews programs.

And here's a page I googled where a rabbi actually answers this question:

quote:
Here’s what a Jew is: a Jew is a spiritual state of being. A Jew is any human being who has a Jewish soul, regardless of his or her race, lifestyle or professed religion. This soul is possessed by any man or woman who was born to a Jewish mother or has converted to Judaism according to the dictates of Jewish law. You can be as hip as Jerry Seinfeld, as religious as Moses, as left-wing as Barbra Streisand or as conservative as your uncle Irving—you’re still Jewish. You could be an environmentalist, an industrialist, a fundamentalist—you’re still Jewish. You could try as hard as you can to be just like your neighbors—you’re still Jewish. You could “convert” to Christianity, or run off to India to “become” Buddhist—you’re still Jewish.

Hahahaha hip as Jerry Seinfeld.

EDIT - religions are full of weird shit like this. For example, if you've been baptised as a catholic at any point in your life, and decide to go into another religion or become a non-believer, in the eyes of the Church you're still a catholic. The only way you'll stop being a catholic (in the Church's eyes) is if Vatican passes a decree that excommunicates you for apostasy (the sin of renouncing your faith).

a lie is it? ok then... thats your opionion. And dont tell me that youve never made a general observation about a group of people in your life. Because then you would be lying.

i agree... that was the point of the thread

quote:
That is ignorance in action.
no but the responses have been interesting.

quote:
The "exceptions" are the people you are refering to, the majority are the people I am referring to.
again, thats just your opinion.

quote:
Revisionism for the sake of political correctness - interesting, in the context of a girl who knows little about "her" culture, we now arrive at the history of the rape and pillagment of the Italian penninsula nevermind the distorted connections you are making, but the overal picture of individual ignorance of the subject (girl) and its relation to this blanket statement of ones' Italianess and ones Canadianess is absurd.

its funny how you keep inplying that my byzantine statement was false when we both know its true. And what a hissy fit you are making out of it. Go back and reread the original part of the thread and the connection to the conversation was VERY relevant.

quote:
In this case it is revisionism for the sake of absurdity based on blanket statements which serve to support your distorted ideas of the exceptions found in all cultural groups.
what revisionism? i have not said anything that wasnt true.

quote:
oh and your quote, i fixed it.

Those who fail history class are doomed to distort it, and find minute examples to support that which they attempt to prove.

funny.. i got an A

Obviously we cant document statistically how many canadians of italian decent use the caker/european argeument. But i think most people would agree with me here that the number is a very high one. and im not just picking on italians. The other "europeans" are just as guilty.
