If you're asking about Trentemoller, he's from Denmark. My girlfriend talked with him about Copenhagen when he was here last week. He said everyone drinks a lot there to keep warm because it's so cold.

Thats more deep house in my book. But yeah maybe u are right that the term tech house gets abit abused these days. But still, i call trentemoller tech house for the most part. Wouldnt know what else to call it. Its not like glitch is a genre, and it isnt minimal for sure.

True, I'd say ame is kinda smack in the middle between deep and tech...

check out Unai, especially the following songs:

Loving that Lost Feeling
Blissful Burden
Moderne Love
Stars In Your Eyes (Trentemoller-The Forest has nothing on this song, imo )

Mate, ok, you can call trentemoller whatever you like (cyber-tech-porn-polka also sounds cool i reckon!) BUT the term tech-house is used (and i'm not talking about the past but for today, don't know why you stated that tech-house was like that in the past)in order to describe a particular sound that is directly inspired (ok i'll say it again because you didn't get it) by early detroit techno and chicago house.Trentemoller, may somehow sound like "tech-house" to you but this is not what the press and the people have agreed on what the term "tech-house" describes. Key "tech-house" artists are Eddie "Evil" Richards, Terry Lee Brown Jr., Gideon Jackson, Lil'Louis,The Timewriter (Best deep/tech house producer ever IMO) The Youngsters, Alexi Delano,Harris,Circulation and as allied nations stated, Inland Knights, Onionz, and many others...

These artists have nothing to do with Trentemoller. If you want to explore tech-house try the F-Communications label, especially for the deeper kind of stuff.A strict discription between deep and tech house is unecessary IMO. Tech-house is just a more upbeat and stripped version of deep house, that's all there is to it.Despite that, the sounds that are used, such as deep off-key chords,Dubby riffs, very deep bass, tribal drumming, detroitian strings and pianos ,and generally an overall moody-"jazzy" feel, are in most of the times present in both types of music.

Here are samples of whole tunes in 4djsonly. You need to sign-in first but it's extremely easy to do. When you do it, you can access samples of whole tunes, so it's very good!

Gideon Jackson- "Push it/Forever" (Typical Tech-house!!!)

Eddie Richards- "DooYoo"

http://www.4djsonly.com/4DJ/index/p...productID=17828

Circulation- "Colours-2" L.p. (Many downtempo tracks in here but lots of tech-house tracks as well)
http://www.4djsonly.com/4DJ/index/p.../productID=2660

The Youngsters- "Smile"

http://www.4djsonly.com/4DJ/index/p...roductID=101153

Terry Lee Brown Jr.- "Sunny Side Up" (More fantastic tech-house)

http://www.4djsonly.com/4DJ/index/p...productID=37666

To conclude...yes, some of trentemoller's tracks (all of his dance tracks) ARE minimal and fit perfectly in this new trendy minimal, click-house/glitch-techno category (which yes unfortunately exists). In a matter of fact Poker Flat was always a famous minimal/clicks & cuts label and furtheromore, tracks like "Nightwalker" (is that what it is called?) is a perfect example of the original german deep-dubby minimalistic techno of the basic channel label/artist.

But, as i've stated in my first post, to conclude that Trentemoller is a minimal artist is foolish, because the majority of the tracks in the album are just beautifull experimental downtempo electronica reminiscent of more abstract artists such as telefon-tel aviv and mum(most of the album tracks don't even have a steady 4/4 beat!). Therefore the best think to do is to avoid pigeon-halling and just say that trentemoller (and especially his album) is just quality dark experimental electronic music. Its tracks like "take me into your skin","moan" and "miss you" that steal the show anyway, and i reckon that these are the tracks that he is going to be remembered in the future. Sorry for the long post, hope you liked my reccomendations.
