While I do agree that BGs and the honour system in a sense "ruined" world pvp, I think that when most people reminisce upon pre-BG WoW, their memories are positive because the game was still relatively new back then.
I too loved being on a pvp server when I first started on one - the element of danger behind every corner was exciting and interesting. It grew old though and when it grew old, there was no longer any choice, really. You had to put up with the bullshit of people camping you in their ridiculous gear, armed with purple weapons and a /spit macro. And it's not as though there is no pvp on a Normal server - all you have to do is flag up and go to a higher end area and you are sure to attract attention from the other faction. Having actively played on both a PvE server and a PvP server for about a year each, I would actually say that I experienced more of what I would consider "true" pvp while on the PvE server. People didn't gang up on you there for no reason so it was much easier to bait somebody into a 1v1 match and even a 2v1 match. 3v1 is the stuff of pvp servers and, of course, only happens when you are farming and you're at 10% health. :/

not at all, in fact you saved yourself 6-12 months of raiding that will all be replaced in 3 lvls of outland. Not to mention better gold drops/quest rewards so easier to get lvl 60 mount, and faster to get lvl 70 flying mount.
myself, I came across a blessing last Saturday. A woman. got a girlfriend and my desire to WOW is killed. So gald I didnt install BC cuz I took it back, cancelled my acct and now I have 4 60s just idling. (hunter, druid, mage, priest)

so i was best buy the other day to pick up 'the burning crusades'. i pick up a copy, turn around and lo' and behold who do i see ? i see tim duncan, power forward / center of the san antonio spurs, also picking up a copy ! that guy deserves to be in my cool book!
