But its all a matter of taste in the end.

well he did say "I'm looking for a bit of everything". and although some of those have made their mark on the mainstream i assure theyve all made "intelligent" music.

i suggest you give Mechanical Animals a listen. his newer stuff is shit but that album is brilliant glam/hard rock.

Well some of them...the majority having an I.Q. of around 30-70, yes most of them are "autistic" unfortunately! (Exception is depeche mode, david bowie and U2 who had some 70s-80s "bright moments"!)

And marilyn manson plays bloody new-metal which is the worst metal genre that ever existed...and mechanical animals is a terrible, terrible album and i can assure you with terribly low I.Q.

But its a matter of defining "intelligence" then

what about is of "low i.q." exactly? and that record has nothing to do with nu-metal. alternative, industrial and glam- yeah. but not nu-metal

It's been said before but I'll re-iterate... Go for some classical. Listen to Beethoven then some Mozart. Compare the two styles like you would two different EDM tracks from two different producers. Pay attention to things like composition, structure, and tempo. When you're done with your "fasting" of EDM, pick up some of your favorite EDM tracks. When you feel you need to "fast" again. Compare your EDM to the classical.

Then you may become truly enlightened.

lol, you guys are talking like I've never heard anything but EDM in my life. I already know most of the suggestions posted so far, but I still very much appreciate them. And for the record, I'm very familiar with both these composers, and I hate them both. Tsaicowski and Brahams are the shiznit

I wasn't implying that at all. Which is why I also suggest doing a "compare and contrast" on the music you used to listen to most predominantly before your epiphany with EDM.
