Holy shit, I remember that moment, vividly!!!!!!!!

I have abstained from any sentimentality until the official announcement reached us. Now it is here, I, with tears in my eyes, want to say that Sonic was my home from home, the place where I truly felt safe and comfortable and the venue that provided me with some of the best nights of my life.

The friendly door staff that remembered me and welcomed me through the doors, the beautiful surroundings that afforded me to dance like it was saving the world and the friends, my wonderful Sonic family that have become such a major part of my life both inside and outside the club all set to a backdrop of some of the best house music I have ever heard, will never be forgotten.

From my first night there seeing Miss Honey Dijon, to the Industry Reunion where I first met up with my sweetie, and all the parties in between and since, I will take with me a lot of great memories.
Thank you Sonic for inspiring many a night of marathon dancing! All the best to those who worked there!
See you on the 10th for some serious ass-shaking!!

Other great nights for me include DJ Vibe, Lexicon Avenue, Victor Calderone, The Hacker, and The first New years party with C&C..

Honestly, I've never danced on a floor that was so comfortable and almost non-existent to my feet...gonna be hard to say goodbye.

Let this be a lesson to partiers in Toronto...stop being such spoiled twats who need to complain about everything.

Some highlights from various reviews of mine that I want to share:

At one point during that night I sat close to the edge of one of them...and I turned to the left...and saw a black woman curled in a ball, camouflaged in the corner. I did not notice her before...and I jumped! wtf....which is why I'm a bit relieved that it won't happen again."

"I had smiles (more than one, yessir) on my face ALL night, and I only checked the time no more than twice...that's a new record for me...and that tells you how enjoyable my night went. The only time I frowned was at closing time, because my body wasn't sore at all, and I wanted them to continue for another 3 hours; fortunately they did...but in my dreams The party ended close to 9."

"Brad Copeland's debut at Sonic was spot on. I haven't heard him play like this since his days at System, and he looked happy. Sonic's soundsystem definately brought out the best of him. I thought he was the best guy for the job, to open up for Lexicon. He brought his A game, and set the tables for them quite nicely. Great progressive house, with a hint of funkiness. Lots of unfamiliar tunage which was refreshing to say the least. After 20 minutes that I had got there, I got into the groove quickly, and so did everyone else on the dancefloor. Mr. Copeland headlining at Sonic wouldn't be so bad at all...it'd be a great idea if anything. I insist that he open up for another Saw recording night!"

"I wanna rock down to Lexicon Avenue...did I ever.

Their set reminded me of a 'wheel of tunes.' They randomly spun the wheel and whatever the pointer landed on, they would play. The pointer managed to land on a variety of genres. Starting off with good ol progressive for quite a while. That's what I wanted to hear! Track selection was 'das good' and I never payed attention to the booth; no idea who spun what. I always let my imagination run wild, and at every great event I become something else. This time I felt like a lizard. A progressive, climate adjusting, ADD lizard. Major swaggering went on...it's too bad Nikola wasn't there . Tune salad! At one point during the night they hit us with such a clickity-quarky mind fuck tune. The lighting at this point in time was awesome. They used those flashy white lights, not enough to blind you, but enough to trip you out. I closed my eyes, and saw boulders of light falling down from a flying train, hitting me right in my soul. At 7 am they decided to play their older funky stuff. The played the funk! Who got the funk? She got the funk? He got the funk? Grandma got the funk? I got the funk "

The deco staff went all out with this themed party....nets, lots of fake greenery, including bush (not that kind, you dirty minded freaks), green lights, and even the disco ball was wrapped to be slighty hidden. I was so hyped up at one point during the night that I jumped up, grabbed some bush, and gave it as a gift to Miluska."

"The battlefield was nothing without the beats and rhythms."

Satoshi Tomiie

"It came to my attention really quickly that the crowd was very different; it was expected. Older, sketchier, but friendlier. I knew there wouldn't be many members of the CWC out, but instead, Sonic was blessed with the elite citizens of the bondage association. lol. Didn't bother me that much. On the other hand, I was bothered by the weirdest individuals I had seen. Some black woman (who I assume was drag), who wore some sort of "seductress" outfit, accompanied by her man-servant, was laying down on top of the wall beside the stairs, poked me and decided to make some ridiculous gestures with her eyes and mouth. WOW. Total sketch. Another incident occured with another black male, but for some reason, I think it was the same one except outside of the drag. WTF lol."

"Sean Miller is a local fav of mine, and lately I hadn't been enjoying his sets at Sonic, but he totally blew me away this past Saturday. I guess I can understand why: This time he wasn't opening for a tribal headliner. Some people have exclaimed that Sean Miller doesn't play his prime when he's in Toronto, and that he only plays his best internationally, but those people are ridiculous, especially after this. What can I say? He played THE best set I've heard him spin. I managed to catch almost all of it, and although I wasn't dancing for the first half, my ears were. I was awed by the tracks he was dropping. Not typical at all; Lots of prog stormers, and it didn't sound like a Sean Miller Sonic set. Vocals? barely existed. Circuit stuff? huh? where? Yea...exactly!"

"4 am, Satoshi Tomiie was headlining, but it sounded more like a concert for demons from hell rather than a set. That's a good thing BTW. lol. This was my first time experiencing Godzilla's wrath, and I think I lost against the battle...more like...I died..many times...and became undead. He took the set to extremely bizarre levels than I was expecting. I knew he'd play dark and deep progressive house, judging by his productions/remixes and sets from this year. We were all wrong. Saying it was a mindfuck is an understatement! It was WTFOMGHOWWHY?! He mixing was godly; Alot of the time, he was mixing in the tracks without the use of headphones. That's pretty damn impressive! He started off the first 2 hours of his set with the most deep and dark progressive I've ever heard. It was slow, deadly, and totally unpredictable. They were a step above ambient, with some minimal aspects keeping it danceable. Waiting for the breakdown after the climax was like waiting for lightning to strike. You wouldn't know when and where it would happen. I really liked that. I gave it my all, and danced to the sounds of the nocturnal ritual. The crowd was too, but many of them were too dazed and confused...they didn't know how to react to the slow deathly music. Haha, awesome. The soundsamples for almost every song were like 'whoa!' Many times throughout the night, Steve and I would go up to each other and be like "Holy shit!", or "Wow...what a mindfuck." From 6 am on, Satoshi brought it up a notch by playing more upbeat minimal prog, and prog with more depth and melody...some tech house too This got the half-dead crowd to move their asses. They were pleased, but I was already smiling from before. Still, he managed to play the most evil music I've encountered. At one point, he played this one tune that sounded like a nightmare and I felt the way I did when Digweed played a similar song at Labour of Love: My hairs jumped from my skin, my eyes widened, my teeth grinded, and my body was shaking. The melody was so haunting, I felt like I was undead, travelling in the depths of a lifeless world. I moved like a zombie on ecstasy, manipulating my arms and legs into the casting procedures for a wizard's spell. LOL! Ok..I sound like a nerd now...but how else could I describe it?! I MUST have this tune! Unfortunately, I could not ID this or most of the tracks, but I did catch a few, including the song he played right after that one...it sounded like the crossing of hell into purgatory...making it's way into heaven. Holy fuck!

Jim Rivers - Restore!!!

Vocals? Vat is dis? These did not exist the whole night, except for one or two thrown in randomly...one of these was mentioned earlier, and was also played by Miller...

Are you listening to me, Mrs. Outader?
I don't think you're listening...
Are you laughing at me, Mrs. Outader?
Pay Attention!

La da di daa
La da di daaaa

haha...love this tune...it was Satoshi Tomiie Pres. Ice - Scandal In New York (Vox Mix)."

Victor Calderone

"As soon as I found out Calderone was on, I flew to the dancefloor like a hawk. After all the hype I was READY. Give it to me!! Did he ever.... After about 20 minutes, I was already going insane. I felt more like a monkey than a clown. The tribaliciousness was 100% delciousness!!! I tried to push the OFF button on my ass to calm down, but instead pushed the OVERDRIVE button! Because of this foolish incident, my ass, limbs, and head were flying in all directions! Dum da da dum da da dum da da dum! Helllllp meeeee. The place became a hunting ground for tribal warriors. Calderone was much better than I had anticipated, and I was drenched with sweat the whole night, even 7 hours after Sonic. Tribal GOD WTF! You guys weren't kidding. Mixing was great, and the tracks were awesome. They were so good that there were no OMG moments, except for once or twice...once was when Miluska and Karina arrived...and at the same time Miluska and I heard our song...our monkey song...

Voicesssssss inside my headddd....Eccchoes!! <3"

"I get ridiculous comments all the time, but this time it was hilarious. Some shirtless tall dark dude comes up to me and says "You're very bouncy. I like the way you bounce." LMAO...WTF? So, because I can't keep my feet on the ground I'm bouncy? Boing boing"

The Hacker

"The opening set from Barbi was flawless. I had never heard of her beforehand, but she did not disappoint. She was almost as good as the headliner, which usually isn't a good thing, but since she making a name for herself it was quite suitable. She played some really awesome retro tech and hard electro, similar to what The Hacker would play. At one point I was really tempted to go up to the dj booth and ask her if I could be her Ken lol."

"At around 2 am The Hacker finally made his appearance. I hadn't seen him before, and I didn't know that he even existed until I saw the flyer a few weeks ago. Friday night...my jaw hit the floor. I did not hear one bad track all night. Every single tune that he played was a bomb. I tried to dodge them, but I got hit every single time . He played most of the tunes from the set I dled.

RIDICULOUSLY AMAZING HARD PUMPING ELECTRO TECH

^^ sums it up very well. He played the best electro I have ever heard. The whole time I was thinking..Swedish Mafia who? Honestly I don't like to compare, but the mafia had nothing on The Hacker. His style was very hard and very far from the commercial electro that I was used to. The techno mixed in there was the perfect combination. He played alot of his productions...and he played one song that made me, George, and everyone else on the dancefloor shiver.

The Hacker Feat. Miss Kittin - Masterplan

Holy...Fuck...Tune of the night! It really tripped me out and Miss Kittin's haunting vocals was a total mindfuck."

Thank you Sonic team for all the amazing nights.

Sadly, I will not be able to attend the last night (have a blast everyone), but I will be there this weekend.

Can't wait to find out ... what next?
