Well buddy if you can't stomach that crap then quit yacking on and post some tracks so we can get an idea of what you are into, and then everyone else can do the same. Eventually we can decide on a particular genre or mix of genres for the first set, and then come to a happy medium for a selection of tracks.

Ok. We are starting to roll.

So far 2 judges: Zild and Import.
We need at least one more. (though more people can jump in as judges before the contest starts) The judges are going to have to keep in touch with each other

I suggest the judges start thinking about what genre to pick, then tracks. Keep in mind that if the tracks are too different from each other, it'll be hard to form a flow. For example, picking minimal techhouse and funky diva house just ain't going to work. So try to stick within a particular subgenre, or subgenres that are similar.

All tunes must be easy to purchase online (Beatport, djdownload, etc)
Or if you have a particular tune that you'd think awesome to play but isn't available, well... Umm... I'm not going to say anything more about that

I think we're in consensus that mixes are max 30 mins (give or take) which should be around 4-7 tracks (depends on track length)

Suggested Guideline for Judging (feel free to use, modify, come up with own)
1. Transition (20 pts)
-is there any trainwrecks? Noticeable mistakes? How is the flow (or blending) of transition? I'd consider a good transition is that you didn't even notice that the next track has come in.

2. Tricks (10 pts)
-was there some cool tricks used? Did it fit well within the set? (Was it out of place and sounded bad?) How difficult were the tricks?

3. Track Selection & Programming(10 pts)
-was there a general flow of tracks during the set? Did the tracks fit in well with each other? (or out of place?)

4. Overall Impression (10pts)
-were you impressed with the set? The level of effort? A mix can be technically perfect, but may not 'wow' a listener

As well, do try to give critical feedback as just points don't tell much of a story and we can't improve if we don't get told what we did wrong.

For the timeline, I suggest one week from the day a 3rd judge has volunteered for genre and track selection by the judges, then another 2 weeks for any contestants to submit their mixes, then another 2 weeks for the judges to mark, then announce the winner.

For submission guideline, all contestants must list tracklist, as well as equipment used as that judges should take into account what the contestants did given the equipment used. So someone using cdj100 and a cheapass behringer w/ no built in effects should get more consideration than someone using the latest gear.

Also, are we going to accept Ableton (or other software used) mixes?
Personally I think it should be turntable and/or cdj used.

Hang on aren't we supposed to use tracks from "The List" & nothing else? I thought that was the whole idea?

yeh I think he's talking about the tracklist that the judges come up with for us to use, whatever they find must be purchaseable off beatport or whatever. either way that looks lie a fairly solid foundation for judging, Im happy with it, unless anyone has further suggestions??

Just some considerations for this, the genre is probably best chosen based on the votes cast, rather then the judges just picking house, techno or trance.

Id say for tracks personally id like to see alot of suggestions, people have varied tastes and what i might think is a few good house tracks may not work for anyone else, so perhaps pulling together a list and narrowing it down to 10 from there? I guess the first step is genre...

Im not gonna vote, my preference is genereally breaks and trance, but id enjoy listening to techno or house.

I meant the tracks from 'the List' must be easy to purchase (or acquire)

Personally, I'd prefer the judges pick the 12 or so tracks, then tell the contestants to make a mix.

Remember. This is to challenge the DJs. Less choice the contestants have, more challenging it is.

I want something I haven't heard before so I'm on my toes to actually make a good mix.
