This is what I don't understand.
Why are of of u ppl praising SvD have to follow it with a "PvD sucks"
If you aren't going to read anything in this thread the least u can do is read AV1's post.
or no wait.
SvD > M.I.K.E
SvD > Perry O Neil
SvD > JoC
Svd > Talla
SvD > Jesus

Wow this thread took a crazy direction, and everyone has their points.
Either way, I for one will continue to see and support PVD. He has always been and remains a true trance & EDM pioneer. Yes he has consistency issues, but to say he should not play @ Space anymore is pretty funny. Outside of WMC 2006 (bad set) and WMC 2007 (subpar set but nowhere near as bad as 2006) he has played very good the last 3 times there. Here is a recap of those performaces for those who have forgotten:
1) Mainroom November 2006 - 3 hours of madness, as near to perfection as you will get.
2) Terrace June 2006 - whoever said trance does not belong on the terrace swallowed their own shit on this night, because PVD owned everyone that had ever performed on that terrace b4 him or since.
3) November 2005 - PAM DJS anniversary party, probably his best set ever @ the new Space.
I will put those sets and nights up against anyone, anytime, anywhere.
And BTW PVD's 2003 and 2004 WMC sets @ Space were awesome, and 2005 was very good as well. (although Corsten closing owned him)
We were just spoiled with a bunch of trance DJs for WMC, so people are jumping on-and-off bandwagons faster than Dolphins and Marlins fans do on a yearly basis. But that is over now and trance variety will not exist in Miami (outside of locals) until next WMC. PVD may be the only outside act we get for a while (maybe Ferry Corsten too if there is a God). I think most people that have posted on here would probably at least consider seeing PVD (outside of DA) when he comes back. The reason is simple we all want him to be great again and know how awesome it is to be at a good PVD show, even if we do not all think he is always good anymore.
Lastly Twilo vs. Space is no comparison, Space has been around forever and is a jugernaut of nightlife, one of the best venues around. PVD belongs there. Yet Space has alienated many clubbers (not me though) and even some DJs. As for Twilo it is a very nice venue and was loved by almost all WMC partiers that visited it. My thinking on Twilo is that it is perfect for trance parties, the setup and lighting make it so. Even techno parties would be good there. They really need to start booking something different than gay nights Saturday and quasi-gay nights once a month with DT on Fridays. If they do not change it up they will not make it to next WMC. IMO a trance/techno monthly or bi-monthly would be good there or at least worth trying, with an occasional guest. |

heres the thing...
id much rather pay $300 for a plane ticket, $300 on a hotel room for the weekend, another 100-200 on food, plus another 15 for the event ticket, another 50 at the club for drinks and whatnot, to fly out to san fran to see svd play for 2-3 hours than pay $40 on a ticket to see pvd play at space.
you know why?????
CUZ I KNOW SANDERS GONNA BRING IT! 100% no bullshiting around, just straight to the point banging ass music. with pvd theres too much bullshit. oh he needs to warm up so he starts off slow, he needs to end his sets by playing his productions like nothing but you and crush. he has no crowd interaction. if its a good pvd set he's STILL going to suck for 30 mins. and the longer pvds set the more suckage itll have. to be perfectly honest, id just rather not deal with it. yeah if im bored and theres nothing better going on, maybe ill go catch pvd at space, but if i have the option to do something better, you damn sure i will! like seeing svd in san fran.
lemme ask all the svd haters this... when was the last time you traveled to see pvd? huh? huh? really? oh thats right. barely. when pvd was at the top of his game in 2002, i traveled fuckfar to see him. hell i saw him FOUR times in one week in june of 2002! not to mention how many other times i saw him that year and the following here in miami.
pvd just doesnt excite me anymore. its the same shit everytime he plays. thats why id rather travel to see svd. i know im gonna get my moneys worth. and its a lot of money to be saying that. with pvd, im not even sure im gonna get my $40 worth.
anybody get what im saying?
