12 yrs old and only 62k miles?! I wish I drove that little. I'll be this car has been pampered it's entire life.
ehh yes and no.. my second car was a 88 prelude.. loved it. i got in in 2000 or 2001 and it had 45 k miles on it. It was owned by a general in the army and he went to desert storm. He had his car storaged and when he got back kept it there. On day he no longer wants it so he sold it toa dealer and i bought it. 1 year after i got it all the eletrical system was dry rotted. The car would shut off in the hwy doing 90, i would loose stearing and everything... not good. If you are going to get a older car just make sure to have it checked out first.

My friend bought a white 1989 turbo rx-7 with ~90,000 miles on it, AND the original paint job. When he brought it over to my house my mom thought it was a 2006 or something

do you know much about getting them serviced? like do i need to take it somewhere special for oil changes and stuff like that? i'm always unsure about kinda rare (well not rare, but you just don't see them a lot around here) foreign cars like that... Volvos, Audis, VW, Saab, etc... i always assume the service for those is a little different than the more popular brands.
not that it's a bad thing, persay.. i just like to know what i'm getting into.
Vovlos are GREAT cars. they run forever if you take care of them
mitsu: STEAR CLEAR!! unless you are getting an Evo/3000gt/galant vr-4 do NOT get a mitsu. they are VERY VERY well known for engine fires!
integra: dont get it. most stolen car in north america. easy to steal with ANY key that is used for 2yrs. yes i said ANY key. got a GM key lying around? go over to your accord and jiggle it while trying to turn it...it will open. my buddies integra has been stolen twice. any honda has this problem, but the 93-2000(?) seem to have some of the worst problems with it....dont ask how i know this. lol
hybrid: dont get it. waste of money. 5k price premium over what you pay for the regular version and yet you dont save enough to pay for itself by the time you are replacing the vehicle.
subaru: i drive an RS Wagon and overall i love it. it needs a snail and stiffer suspension but otherwise a very fun car. drawbacks? they arent cheap. they hold their value quite well. my car with 20k on it and not even a year old is still worth 16k!
VW Rabbit: hard to find for under 15k as advertised but of course you can work them down. is your total budget 10k or is financed amount 10k?
lease: i dont recommend it since as you said you drive a lot. im in that SHITTY position where i leased (cause at the time i couldnt afford to buy but i was desperate for a car) and i drive a TON. im allowed 12k and im 1200mi from 20k. bad bad situation.
