also, doesn't that make america worse, if you agree that it's become so bad?? it's fallen to a place iran has (arguably) always been, but unlike iran, it had the chance for something better

LOL... Nice.

True, it was founded on those concepts, but hey, it's come a long way since those days! Imagine if the US would've chosen to uphold all those silly values that the founding fathers intended like privacy and personal freedoms. Can you imagine, they even suggested that the government should do what the people said, not the other way around! Must've been on some good opium those guys, shit.

They meant well and I really doubt they could foresee that many centuries into the future where their descendants would squander the ideals they fought for. Sure, it wasn't perfect but 20-20 hindsight tends to be easier rather than coming up with something on the spot like they had to and you've got to admit, they did have some lasting value and contribution which was improved upon and maintained for the most part of the US's existence.

Besides, it's just like old money. It rarely lasts more than a few generations before the corpulent, lazy and ignorant waste it because they are very far removed from the principles of which it was earned in the first place.
If you never had to work, you have no idea of money, if you never had to fight for your freedom, you'll never understand what it is until its gone.
The latter I feel is particularly pertinent to a lot of the US's problems right now, for the majority they're quite happy to be muzzle down in the trough filling their bellies to ever bother about tomorrow.
Live for the moment and that little bit of history in the grand scheme of things, instant gratification now and no concern for the mess they leave behind to the generations that follow.

It's a common human flaw, one that isn't endemic to the USA.

Iran isn't that backward that they wouldn't know what to do with it, however politically, they simply haven't been mature enough to warrant it. If they actually tried to get along with everyone else, they wouldn't be in this issue in the first place.

One never knows when the next suicide bomber will blow up a city bus in Tel Aviv. Remember the 1947 war, the 1967 war, and the 1973 war? Did you forget that Israel was the one being attacked? 1967 may have been preemptive, but when you see opposing armies massing, you don't just sit there.
