Blizzard games have never ceased to addict it's customers. Warcraft was like digital opium and I won't even describe what Diablo II was like.

I think blizzard is still the only studio that continues to focus on gameplay and player involvement in it's products rather then on overall eye-candy and flashy gimmicks.

Of all the recent games released and announcements of graphics heavy games I am looking forward to Crysis, not only because of its somewhat innovative gameplay features, but for how Crytek decided to involve its customers in the game by building a modification playground for home developers/modders to rip apart. The Crysis Sandbox is mindblowing, haven't even seen Valve showcase such modding potential before.

CoH was fun. Supcom is pretty cool, but crashes on me too much, which is unacceptable in 1-2 hour games.

Pardo suggests that Starcraft II will, like the original game, still be a game about "hard counters"--such as how certain units can be directly "countered" (defeated decisively) by specific counter-units; as an example, Pardo shows a brief demonstration of protoss templar units, which are the counter-unit to zerglings, annihilating a swarm of the tiny zerg infantry with their "psi storm" ability.

I fail to see how you can base that conclusion from a quick trailer. I'm willing to give Blizzard the benefit of the doubt for coming up with more "innovative" ideas and twists for their next SC game, even if it may take another 5 years for a release.

look mate, ive been gaming for longer than most of you have been alive, i know a thing or two about how things work. you might be willing to give the "benefit of the doubt" but obviously you havent devoured as much SC-related information as i have this last weekend. see above post as case in point. there is nothing new in the game design. just another RPS hard-counter clone of games we have already played *yawns*

5 years? you DO realise its almost in alpha stage dont you? and has been in production since the frozen throne? it'll be out pretty soon.

kids today

I couldn't care less how many years you've been gaming for. Even with all the knowledge you've indulged concerning SC2, as well as all the other games you've played, you're never going to know for certain how good the game is until it is released. But I see you've already concluded that the game is boring, and I doubt anything in the world will change your mind.

Elitists these days. :/

im not an elitist. i just expect production companies the size of blizzard to be innovating rather than cloning. no, i wont know whether the game is good or bad til playing it, i am merely complaining that the formula (ie rock-paper-scissors & hard countering) is exactly the same as almost every other RTS game out there.

having spent a sizeable fortune on gaming in my years, i am tired of everyone's lazy, cash-cow enterprises that are trotted out with alarming regularity. there will be some new nuances for sure, but essentially this is the same fucking game we all played years ago, and not something new and wonderful and to be worshipped by all these myopic fanboys who wouldnt know a good game if it was shoved up their arse.

go read all the interviews for yourself. all we're getting is starcraft with a new engine. if thats good enough for you, then youre lucky. those of us that are a little more discerning will save our cash for something new and exciting, like sins of a solar empire.
