and yes they do work long hours and i was saying anything that is public you have to pay for, in other words nothing is free there is always something to pay off.

Americans who are paid by the hour work more hours simply because they want the extra cash. Certainly there is nothing wrong with having an extra few dollars.

Americans who are salaried work long hours because they want to have an edge over their competition. Competition can be either a rival company (spend extra time dealing with work to win a major client over a competitor) or other people (spend extra time improving your quality of work to show that you are the best candidate to move up to a higher position within the firm).

edit: Going back on topic, I do like the idea of a congestion tax since if it does reduce traffic, the MTA buses will actually be useful and not crawl going crosstown.

The downside for having the congestion tax for those who don't drive this is that the prices of just about everything that has to be delivered by truck or car to Manhattan will go up. We're all paying for it one way or another.

i'm not a treehugger or anything... but i feel like the environment should be somewhat high on everyone's list of priorities. We should definitely spend more money on alternative fuels, but i suppose many large petroleum corporations might go down if they were forced to quickly move away from their most lucrative product.

as for the congestion tax... thats gonna hit me pretty hard seeing as i commute to nj for work (yea i know, it doesn't make sense). now i'm gonna have a congestion tax on top of my gas and holland tunnel toll. might just have to move back to nj after this.

heres the thing thats gettin me confused
if you use the battery tunnel or midtown tunnel linchon or holland tunnel cause all those tunnels are below 86 street
do you still have to pay the $8 tax?
i mean cause a round trip on the battery tunnel is 9 bucks so you gotta pay an additonal 8 bucks to come into nyc?
or is it just gonna be 8 bucks on like the brooklyn,manhattan and williamsburg bridge?

you'll pay the congestion tax minus tolls

so if it costs you $6 to cross a tennel, you'll pay an additional $2 for entering below 86th st

The government is now having people chipped with these new RFID tags called verichips that can constantly monitor a persons' position. There is also going to be a new national ID that has biometrics and an RFID chip embedded in it. The Real ID Act comes into effect in May 2008 (the very same chip that is in all our passports. All of our hard earned tax money is being put into survallience and the War(s), not into social reform; while giving tax-cuts to huge corporations. Furthermore The goverment also wants to unite Canada and Mexico to the US thanks to the NAFTA (North America Free Trade Area) bill passed by Clinton in 1994. The holocaust ocurred in Germany in 1939 before Germany invaded Poland and more than 11 million people were forced in concentration camps. We are now in 2007 and technology has progressed alot since then. With all these new security measures and intsruments that are here to "protect" us, it leaves one wondering; Where was all this security when 911 happened? WHERE WAS ARE PROTECTION THEN? billions upon billions of dollars were being invested in our national "defense" years before 911. And if all of these things are being implemented for our safety and security, why are we being constantly warned of "terrorist" threats, since these things are put into place so we feel safe and secure. The NSA is doing nothing for our safety and is using scare tactics so we keep paying our taxes. We are the 4th Reich and this is a World War; make no mistake about it.

I'm far from a tool, and again your twisting what i said,the more and more i hear you speak the more i think your some typical NY trashtalking hard ass, get over yourself... i never said i hated New York i love it because of its diversity and opportunities what i was saying was that many people from abroad get a certain idea when they come to the states. What i dont agree with is this government in the US ... and any form of government to an extent isnt great, when i said those things about france it doesnt mean that i approve of everything they do either, i think it should be somewhere in between...
