utah is far more convenient (mtns are 30 minutes from SLC airport, Tahoe is 3.5 hours from SF), probably cheaper (given you can stay at a hotel in SLC for about $50 a night), and the snow is far far superior.

i'm going to tahoe because i've been to utah for the past 3 years, and haven't been to tahoe in a while. went to mammoth a 2 years ago, but in the summer.

if you're into parks, cali is definitely better.

fuck reno, i'll save the extra $300 and spend it on a better hotel. sacramento was ridiculous also...2 hundred more than SF. two hours is definitely worth the 300 (minus gas).

Timberline is kinda boring.... Meadows and Ski Bowl are much more fun, but they open later.... Ski Bowl opening last.

i would skip PC. the best resorts in Utah are Snowbird and Brighton (for snowboarding - i would love to hit up alta if not for the snowboarding restriction). This is also based on the type of snowboarding i like. it could be different for you, i can guide you though. What kind of snowboarder are you? Freestyle? carver? all mountain? i've been to Utah 3 times in the past 4 years so any questions you have i'd be happy to answer.

clearly you are smoking crack

cmon i gotta have at least one crack at you lol

PC was DOPE...nice and wide, it was so much fun! snowbird was nice but VERY steep with a lot of moguls. Easy trails ran pretty narrow as they cut across some of the mogul steeps.

I've heard so much about brighton that I may have to trip back just to ride it...

That's exactly why i would skip PC. That's also why i asked what kind of boarder he was. I love steeps, cliffs, cornices, and parks. I'm not into cruising trails. If you like cruising, then PC and the Canyons are probably your best bet.

Brighton is great because it's cheap (<50 for a lift ticket), not crowded at all (even on saturdays), it has a nice terrain park, and it has some sick steeps on the sides of the resort. Also, they replaced an old 2 seater lift with an express quad. If you're a little balsy, you can hit the backcountry over there, definitely worth it, i did it last year. just remember your avalanche receivers and go with someone.
