Re: Getting bored of EDM

I've been getting a little bored of EDM myself lately.

So I've been listening to ambient and experimental stuff along with classical music.

These things go in cycles for me. I'll overexpose myself to a certain kind of music and then have to cut back on that type for a while.

Agreed completely - though for me, however odd it may sound, the one group of music that I never really seem to tire of is electronic music, which I have to assume is just because of the broad number of flavors it comes in, but generally I can find some style of house almost any time that will suit my listening needs.

With almost everything else I listen to regularly from folk to jambands to jazz to rock, I will usually get to the point where I need a break for a bit.

Sounds like you need a new hobby, not new music, so you can become passionate about something else.

I don't really think that's it.

It's just that if I listen to dance music enough, it starts sounding too "samey" to me.

It's kind of weird how that works for me; when I first encounter a kind of music that I have little precedent for, it kind of all sounds the same to me, but when I dig deeper I realize how diverse most genres really are. But then if I listen to it exclusively, I'm back to feeling like it's all the same again.

Nah, there are lots of kinds of music I'm still enthusiastic about. Just not really dance music at the moment.

i love my euro/freestyle but since its a dead genre pretty much, i dont listen to it as much as i use to.

Replace trance with EDM in general and I'll defenitly agree

"All edm is based on a framework" yeh bullshit... I think all music in general is based on a framework. Seriously theres some really retarded and elitest comments in this thread.

I doubt with such wonderful genres as varied as :
modern classical
dnb
psy
trip hop
progressive house
techno etc

I doubt I'll ever get bored of edm in general.

Mr mystery is the perfect example of old and jaded seriously.

Although admitably Funk and Soul are two very good non edm genres.

Dougan is more like film music than classical.

I know... thats kind of what I meant by modern classical. It's film music that is electronic based (yet still sounds very classical and has a classical vibe).
