There are many types of sounds in many of my synths which I haven't been able to fit into my productions, because of how I want my productions to sound.
As an example, for my low bass sounds, often I turn to my Supernova 2 rather than one of my other synths. For most of my productions at this particular point in time, it fits better for what I want. But heck, I know the Clavia, Access and Waldorf bass sounds are in countless top tracks and they all sound incredible. And I'll still use them for tracks if they have the sound I'm after for that particular track.
But yes, if your production style is such that a JP8080 style sound just never seems appropriate, then yes, get rid of it. It's not a case of the synth is good or bad. It's a case of, it's not right for your production style.
For me personally, the way I currently put sounds together, the JP8080 just slots right in and sounds great. I don't do much else to it.
