Yes, but it's not just a MIDI controller. It's a high end soundcard as well, wth XLR and TRS outputs. Any decent multi-channel soundcard will cost you $500 by itself.
Second, $200-$300 MIDI controller use cheap ass components and are all made out of plastic. I'm quite sure the Maven uses high quality faders and pots, and those don't come cheap. This thing is made for professional DJ's who travel with it, not kiddies in their bedrooms.
Do you NEED high end pots? Well, it doesn't affect the sound quality, but if you want your MIDI mixer to feel like a real mixer, then yes, you do.
Comparable products are just as pricey. The faderfoxes (which aren't quite as nice) are $300 a piece, and you need at least 2-3 of them to get decent functionality. The Xone 2D is around $600 as well.
Just because it'll be out of your price range doesn't mean it's overpriced. Are BMW's overpriced? Is a Rolex overpriced? If you want to play, you have to pay

I completely agree. At the end of the day this is just a midi controller and they are never that expensive. I personally think if this comes out over £600 then its over priced. |

I use a programmable keyboard by cherry, with my new korg zero 4.
slight drop out going from audio - midi/audio - midi but in the zero 4 but overall I am happy with it.
You can get a $5 number keybad, use auto key programs and get a little triggerpad for very cheap, and have mouseless browsing in ableton as well

btw, the faderfoxes are DEFINIATELY not cheap and not shit, they are very good, well made, and small. I will get one or two eventually if I need it.

no you got it completely backwards. the companies HAVE to charge so much because demand is so low, yet it's a serious piece of equipment.
if nobody bought it, they wouldnt mass produce it. The prices cannot come down.
its the same reason why nice guitars are so expensive

btw whatever the price is, lets say $1600. I would say its probably worth it if you find it is the midi controller/audio interface for you. Some people like xone 3d, some korg zero 8, some mavern. $1800+
