I suppose I need to weigh in a bit here:
Sasha was great, our pre-party was great, but the best part of the whole weekend was spending it in the company of new and familiar faces. Garth, Myra, Rob: it was about damn time we met! Josh, Greg, Jeremy: it was great to see you guys again after WMC. To all my Atlanta friends who made it out, it was a pleasure to see you all as well.
The pre-party was awesome. Big thanks to MidCity for letting us host it there, and big thanks to everyone who came out. It was great to spin with Rob and Myra (we got a recording too!). Oh, and big props go to the shuttle driver from the Hilton Homewood Suites for getting us there on time! He was only supposed to take us a mile down the road to Marta (our hotel was in Buckhead) but we talked him into taking us all the way there--and holy shit can that dude drive! I have never, ever seen anyone get down Peachtree on a Friday afternoon faster than he has--and he did it not in a nimble Audi, but in a lumbering shuttle van. That dude was an indy driver in a previous life.
Sasha was awesome. I'm getting mixed reviews on his set and his choice of style, but I enjoyed it. A little bit dull at times, but when the hammers dropped, they dropped hard. Pics and videos are being exchanged and uploaded. They will tell the rest of the story.
The hotel after-party was awesome (are you getting the sense yet that things were awesome?). I don't know how Greg woke up with one of my shirts on. He probably grabbed it out of my clothes pile after he got out of the shower. I remember being on my laptop in the morning after I had taken Myra and Rob back to the airport, when Greg woke up wondering where he was and how he got there. That's the sign of a good evening right there.
Yeah, I think it's safe to name the evening "Fear and Loathing in Atlanta."
WMC 2008, anyone?
