In the end, it all comes down to preference. But your point is well taken – that is to say, "mom's food" and all the other perks that come from living with your parents should not hinder your transition into adult life. and I think a major part of adult life is having your own place and extending your responsibilities.

personally, I can't see myself dating someone at my age (21) and still living at home – the idea seems... for lack of a better term, too adolescent for me. But don't get me wrong, I love my parent's house! I just feel much more comfortable and in control as I have my own place and I can visit my mom anytime I like, for some good ol' home cooked meals ^_^

i live at home with my parents. its fucking great.
come and go as i please. its fantastic.

I've lived on my own since I was 17, I'm 20 now, but I was able to live in Europe, South America, Canada and the US. I pretty much go full circle and now find myself living 5km away from my parents.

And after all this time my best dish is Mr.Noodles and Kraft dinner...to name a couple.

Looking at buying a house in TO during the spring, it'll keep me put for a bit.

ya, cant imagine my rentals making my bed or cleaning my room. that hasnt happened since public school.

i have to clean the entire basement... main area, my room, kitchen, bathroom.

i also cant imagine having my parents doing my laundry. been doing that since gr. 8 when my mom shrunk a sweater i really loved by accident... after that, no one touches my laundry. its not something id feel 'right' having my mom or gf doing anyways... i dunno, seems like a task (to me) that we should just do each ourselves.

and re: gfs or just generally any sex at home... its a non issue. (it better be by the time ur in your 20s, IMO...

but i guess if it WAS an issue, id hafta move out. life's to short to deal w/ that kinda crap.

Ive been busy as shit with school and its resulted in me staying over a particular persons house a few nights a week, and i tend to eat, sleep, study, do chores there as if i was living with her. I havent been seeing eye to eye with the rents over it cos my home is 30 mins away from school (where they expect me to come to every night), and its a bitch to get to 830am classes especially when studying till late and sharing a car with a sister who cant ever be ready on time for me let alone her job. i spend a lot of time in the library too, so like I keep thinking about moving out for a semester or a year or whatever just to make things easier for myself but its a scary thought... any suggestions?

Take a risk-a chance-try something new and see what happens. It sounds like moving out somewhere more centralized where you have access to everything seems to be a good idea. However that is also pending upon your current financial position.

Sometimes the answer is SO simple and right in front of you.

What is so scary about moving out? Realize that everyone moves at at one point in their lives, if you have "issues" about moving out you have to pay attention to your insecurities and confront whatever you are fearing.

Good Luck though sounds like you may have bit off more than you can chew....

If you're responsible and you know how to organize your time, move out.

Eventually, you're going to have to do this.

So might as well learn now, before you become too relied on your parents, even when you get really old.

If you do get in trouble, your parents (at least good ones) will give you advice and help.

In a way, independence was the best thing, and worse thing that happened to me.

Either way, it's a life you're going to have to get used to, one way or another
