Hehe, ok sure. But shall we wager a bet on the difference in budgets between BSG and Firefly? Sure, Joss Whedon has a good name for TV series' but BSG is a re-creation of a classic. That equals big bucks.
Not only that, but Firefly was kinda pushing the envelope a bit, genre wise, with what Joss Whedon referred to as a "Space Western." I've never seen a space-themed Sci-Fi attempt that. Oddly, that said, after watching the 1st DVD of Firely, I really didn't like it. I didn't feel close to any of the characters, and the plot was...odd, to say the least. But by the 2nd DVD, I was hooked. I still can't think of any Sci-Fi characters that I like more.
Firefly WAS trying to create a wicked story arc though, though River I suppose, but they had to sort of 'amend' that when they got canned, and make a short story out of it with Serenity. I don't doubt that the longer (series version) would have been epic though
And yes, I agree that season 1 of B5 was a bit lame, because it lacked Sheridan. Sinclair was the 'jovial captain'.... Nobody wants that in a space station
EDIT!!! - Bruce Boxleitner was TRON
