How many gigs have you played on it? The SSL box I bought almost 3 years ago has at least over 100 gigs on it without any problems. I wish I could say the same for my friends who use Torq.

The difference in price between the two is insignificant especially considering the peace of mind it buys you.

Torq hasn't even been out 3 years.

Well, you can only go on what you yourself have seen, I suppose. I, however, have seen very different results.

the one thing i absolutely hate in torq is the auto sync, and the price for the replacement CDs and Vinyl are expensive, while serato lets you download their timecode off their website, it saved my life more than once at a gig when a cd was messed up.

That is great, and I hope your unit continues to work perfectly for quite some time. What I'm talking about really is the fact that I've seen first hand and second hand many more cases (we're talking order of magnitudes here) of people having problems with Torq as opposed to Serato especially when used by gigging DJs.

Bucke maybe it was the result of having a shit laptop, but in the case I was specifically referring to the laptop was just fine. And Serato will run on almost any laptop you'll find these days new or used.

Given the build quality and reputation of M-Audio vs. Rane & Serato I am much more inclined to believe that it had something to do with Torq's hardware or software more than anything else.

if i had the money i'd go for serato, but i dont...so i bought torq,

torq is not as old as serato so they still got shit to fix i guess.
but its decent, does the job for me right now,
later when i get more money i'll buy myself Serato, and a couple sl1200s

problem i have with serato is it crashes when i exit it but i think this is to do with vista. some other crashes happen but not often. had an issue at a gig 2 weeks ago though where it crashed while in the middle of a set. that was a first so im putting it down to vista.

what if one was to use the torq software with the serato unit? Would this provide better reliabilty? Although I've never used torq, I have seen it being used and really like its interface.
