GG. When i see little homos like this run around and his mates with the aussie flag singlet (ONLY IN AUS WOULD THEY DISRESPECT A FLAG LIKE TTHAT) am i embarrassed to be Australian.

so farking true! dont tell me its a minority either.
u should know why some people with will never call themselves aussies because they dont get called aussies because they dont like like an "aussie".

I think not undermining Australia would be a good start. Our country once held good values, and I do agree that they are going down the toilet. There are still a lot of good, decent people here; plenty enough to make it a great country. I think this is a problem in most of the western world though, and Australia can't be singled out like you are trying to do.

Every culture has its bad points, and you've got to remember that Australia is young and developed through influences of a lot of nationalites (predominantly English).

What MAKES Australia, ot at least what is MEANT TO MAKE Australia, is that we "have boundless plains to share" and we combine cultures to become a unified nation under our one flag.

This isn't happening in present day, due to who are being let in to the country, and thier blatant refusal to assimilate. Old Australia would'nt stand for that, and we would have shipped them off.

Anyway, Australia does have a culture, its just hard to see for the stupidity of so many.

Further, I don't like people wearing the actual flag as a cape etc, but having it depicted on clothing I think is fine, and in no way disrespectful.

i had colombias flag on my profile because i spent a bit of time in the country recently and forgot to change it. i am however a ¨true blue¨ aussie having grown up in wine country around the Hunter Valley near Newcastle and later spending my teenage years up to the present in Sydney. Im fourth or fifth generation australian with my heritage going back to Wales and England, but i have no more claim over being ¨fair dinkum¨ ozzy than that wog paulie, those towel heads tonydanza and s_madis, or those crazy serbs missym and fledz, the only difference between us is that im much better looking

agree, this is what makes australia great. and i think you are right in saying that this cultural anomie has affected most rich and spoilt western societies that were born with silver spoons up their arses. America was once a bastion of egalitarian society, the land of opportunity, look at it now...

i just hope Rudd can help remove some of the damage that Howards white australia has made.

the whole concept of "australianism" or "being australian" is a catchcry used by people who wish to elevate emotion over rationalism or to sell you something (ala the lamb ads).

sorry tathi, but australia has never been about egalitarianism, despite what people want to THINK.

australia is full of greedy, racist, nationalistic morons just like any other western nation. being "un-australian" is probably a very good thing.

in any case, people that throw these kinds of terms around dont have a clue.
